Same as it always is with WA Cyclones huh... Near on zero population so the coincidental Interest except for the weather freaks...

WA is known for the monster type cyclones though so..... If it builds.... they will come.

Yes I noticed how quiet it was on the NT front too Darwindix!
And yes Crikey, I think there are quite a few ppl who just like to observe on these threads. I hope it is out of fashion to be a weather nerd - no one wants to be normal these days anyway. Being one of the cool kids means being on the fringe wink

The first instance in a year where we have a chance of precipitation and bam, radar down. The perfect example of irony (or poor maintenance schedule/luck/insert random reason here etc ) These sat pics are super though Learjet, the clarity is amazing!

Latest track map, Riley slowing down slightly and keeping on the westerly track.
How much influence will the ridge in SA on this? Its needs to develop more before the shear starts to increase. Just a touch to the south and the West Pilbara could be in for some decent rain.

I'm no expert but is that dry air and sheer already playing a part in the latest few sat frames.

Yup Blanched, that patch of increased shear seems to have dampened Riley’s spirits a little. He looks almost stationary

No longer a threat to mainland Australia, Riley is now posing for pictures. Since it's drifted west, I thought it would look nice if I included the Earth's curvature.

Glad you like the photos. I haven't quite given up on Riley. Now cat1, soon to be a low. I caught the weakening cyclone in shallow light, the golden reflection of a low sun angle as it glances the globe, giving Riley a bas relief depth effect to the images. It's asymmetrical upper level cloud casting shadows on it's lower self. Images have been rotated clockwise 120 degrees.
