Poured out 2.75mm from early morning and mid arvo showers. Cool and drizling atm, should make mopping up the Rosedale fire a little easier I hope.

1.5mm here, a much cooler day and yes P, conducive to getting the fire contained.

Lots of black (burnt) leaf and white ash over Sale.

A brisk E to SEly (sea-breeze?). This will battle (and overcome?) potential convective build-up for at least next few hours. Will be interesting to watch developments.

And that E is sending smoke to the W as far as Tynong today, certainly spreading it around.

Pleasant SSE @ 28kph @ E Sale.

A trace of rain. A few rools of thunder. From radar could see a couple of small cells passed to our north but we sat under a blanket of flat grey. This is not an unknown type of summer afternoon/evening here where a (coastal?) blanket of cloud obscures convective structures a bit further inland on the foothills and Alps. Would love to have someone who knows what they're talking about describe and explain this.

The cells did their usual thing of forming in the mountains and running SE but not (relatively speaking) very strong.

Quite a few CGs - will wait to see if any fire starts from them.

....would have been great if that was all the max turned out to be, ....and if the power managed to stay on for all Victorians frown

Calm mostly overcast day here, 31.5C max late in the arvo with sun breaking out, very little seabreeze made its way in this far. That fire bombing jet made heaps of trips out of RAAF Sale up to the mountain fires NW of us.

Yeah $80000 a load when you take into account for fuel burn. Jet engines are thirsty

Windy and lighting is big watch warning.
