Been fairly benign conditions over the past couple
Of weeks(which has been very welcome)but as
We know we are still in summer and things can
Still get quiet hot end of feb/first half of March!

So I thought Id kick off this new thread and
See what everyones thoughts are on the up
Coming heat over the next week or so?

I know personally, Ive just about forgot about summer and
Potential heatwaves and fire conditions with all the such
Cool weather we have recently experienced, but u
Look out at all the paddock around the area is still so
Dry And see how dry things are, that its still a stark reminder
Coupled with these pending hot temps that the
Fire danger period is far from over

Thanks for the thread Dooga, just looked at GFS's latest run and temps will certainly be up over Vic's NW/nthCentral regions for sure!

Good date pick, hopefully we will be able to close out the thread with thunder and a few with something half decent to pour out of our gauges next Sunday/Sunday evening.

For us in Gippsland, not too ridiculously hot, and with the longer nights, hopefully no return to our houses becoming ovens again like in January.

For Gippsland, this Feb, and last Feb 2018, have been unusually cool/mild imo.

Yeah - I was planning on going to the Airshow but when I saw temps of 41C predicted on Saturday for Avalon I figured nah. Red head, fair skinned, not risking it. Hopefully this will be the last of the heat and we see a real change over autumn but I have my doubts. Its been a very quiet season for thunderstorms.

Looking quite dark over yr way P, radar shows it all sliding past to yr W. though. Mt Mornapa with 0.2mm.

Reached 33.9C at E.Sale today.

A decent shower or two would be handy here (Sale) although it's not all bad, looks to be dumping with some luck around the Walhalla fire. Lightning also !! scattered around the active thunderstorm line that is presently arced from Yarram to Omeo roughly.

Fires started by lightning strikes once again
Lighting up the mountains just when they
Where getting on top of things!!
Not sure how much rain is falling with these
Storms ? Nothing looks to be registering in
The bom gauges

We ended up with 0.5mm with a nice evening after a hot 38C day, with distant thunder and long spaced lightning flashes to our NW right through to 9.30pm.

Intense lightning (much of it CG) moving westwards (!) from Noogee (West Gippsland) area to the hills NE of Melbourne.

40.5C here today despite typical easterly seabreeze arriving not long after lunch.

Shame (for greedy old me) the storms are steered NW'wards this arvo/evening due to the 300hPa winds frown

33.3 on 27th, 33.6 on 28th, 34.6 on 1st. Yesterdays storms could be seen but fell apart moving NW over ranges and diurnal help disappearing before arrival here though we got some outflow in the evening as they died
