Just got back from town and it was smashing it down there. They must have had 20mm in the 15 mins I was there. Then about 500m from my place it stopped. Glad I have not had what town got though it has just started pouring down here.

Yeah this wasn't forecast either haha

Just home from a very slow gridlocked drive down the southern access in the smashing rain. At one point, thought I might witness my cars paint job wash off down the drain. smile

46mm and counting here in BP.

Nice RF. Surprising to see the SE flow pushing inland. Starting to rain pretty heavy here now though hope we dont get too much. Smells like a swamp out there at the moment

We copped over 200 mm since Sat, 52, 76, 87 plus a bit as we don't ( cant) do the point thingys. 200 + is pretty good here for this time of year considering we have had a heap already. Best wet for 9 + years according to basic records on old calender's for this part of the country. Cattle don't even have to walk for now, just eat rest, sleep and wait for it to grow again while they sleep off the first feed they had.

Sad news was having to put down My youngest Daughters Horse the other night, She is just 9 and her Horse was 26. An Appaloosa who was like a Bulldozer till his last day on Earth, fed him at 1.00pm with some supplement feed as usual cause of his age despite the abundance of grass right now, we really care for our stock , then found him unable to rise in the front paddock at 4.00 pm and despite him and us trying to get him back on his feet after over 7 hours and his thrashing about we had to decide our wants over his suffering, only so much you can watch really before you have to do the right thing for them huh ?
Had to wait till the Girl was in bed for the night as well as She was just aware that he was unwell/sick and we couldn't break it to her that we thought he was on his last legs so to speak as we really didn't know it at that time as well, maybe just colic or something you know.

Saddest thing was that she knew first thing in the morning that her Horse was dead in the front paddock after I had to shoot it the night before to put it out of it's suffering. She spotted it from 200 meters away right after she got out of bed and looked around, looked me in the eye , started crying and then asked where I was going to bury him.

We let her have the day off School, She was so sad, we explained that he was in heaps of pain and that he was old and his time was up sort of thing, She seemed to understand all that but was curious about how we were going to bury him etc. I told her that I would dig a big hole and put him in with the tractor.

That's when everything went to shrite, the very first attempt to put the bucket into the soft ground, the Fricken bucket fell off the front end of the tractor as it wasn't locked in and fell off the front of the liftor, spent a good hour trying to balance the hydrolic hoses of the bucket while trying to disconnect them as they held the weight of the Bucket all by themselves.

Meantime had a dear old dead Horse that was the love of my youngest Daughters life bloating away in the sun next to me that I had to shoot in the head the night before now bloating and letting loose a fart of expended gasses every so often while I was trying get the bastard buried.

It was not a very pretty sight, Couldn't dig, so all I had left was to drag off somewhere else.

I've burnt horses, buried them, mostly ones that meant something to me though as sign of respect. But I've also seen entire body's gone within a week down to a skeleton, just bones etc due to dingoes and hawks as all the flesh gets eaten away after a week or so normally.

Wonder how this will go down in the "Real World" where they don't have to deal with the disposal of #deadthings like food etc?

14.4mm here takes me to nearly 250mm over the last couple of weeks. Will probably keep the pastures green for an extra 4 weeks this year so pretty stoked.

Iím so sorry Marakai 😢
Iíve had horses almost my whole life but as yet have not needed to say a final goodbye like that. I canít imagine what it must feel like for a 9 year old.

Tough gig there MarakaiÖ.
Not nice watching your kids deal with loss..

I didn't sleep well last night, the creek and rain noise was pretty loud, quite a downpour despite the 10-20mm forecast...
