The weather has been pretty tragic when 16mm excites you.

When I lived in Perth, if you got 16 mm in January that was considered above average rainfall lol.

We seem to be back into this pattern of overcast days again like last month but not much rain.

I'm trying to think in all the years I've been here (7 years) i cannot remember it being this dry in summer. It might have been? I can remember some very wet months though. We aren't in El Nino but conditions seem like it ?

Climate outlook overview
The autumn (March to May) climate outlook, issued 28 February 2019, indicates a drier than average season is likely for the eastern States, the southern two-thirds of the NT and eastern SA. Inland western WA has a weak tendency towards a wetter than average season.
Warmer than average autumn days and nights are very likely for almost all of Australia.
The Bureau's ENSO Outlook is currently at El Niņo WATCH, meaning there is a 50% chance of El Niņo developing; this is double the normal chance. See the Climate Influences section for more information

Nice lot of showers this morning and right now. One thing I haven't heard much this summer is the croaking of frogs frown

Still nothing of consequence on the horizon. Starting to look like all of March will be a write off for rain.

I suspect there will be lots of dead animals come November.

None of the other models are saying that though.

In any case it appears to be storms, so it will be hit and miss.

No widespread rain front with an onshore flow. Well really we need a cyclone.

Yeah more like a few mm if that.

We've got to the end of April for cyclones ?

None of the rain this season has been widespread frown

And latest run GFS has backed right of to next to nothing.

That is consistent with what has happened all season, and so far they have been pretty right.

Wonder if we're going to see duststorms in Rocky in winter when the SW winds come through , assuming no substantial rain .

Looks like SE winds return on Sunday.

I am getting ready for the next fire. Should be another doozy with all this fuel for it which we legally can not touch. Just add another year or so of fallen leaves, dead grass tree fronds and spears to all this dead wood and nothing will stop it.

As you can see there is very few trees coming back from such a hot fire. Pity we were not allowed to clear any of the scrub before the fire. Had we been able to the fire would not have been so hot and my small mammals and reptiles might have survived.

Yes Bundybear, the lack of wet season will not help those trees survive and become fuel for next one but enough undergrowth to start another fire soon. You can see the effect from the current fire at woodgate on Gympie radar

29 deg in Yeppoon feels like 32 degrees humidity 78 percent and only a light breeze.

I really hope in 2 months the weather has changed as this will be ghastly for our visitors from NZ .
