I'm not seeing what the issue is with that outlook?

For the Herbie Burdie, there was a 40-50% chance of exceeding the median rainfall. It obviously did, so even if odd were slightly against it - there was still a chance, and it happened.

Nek minut... record rainfall for most of the far north east coast and adjacent inland areas.

But we got the next 100 years sorted right ?

The slow moving low and associated trough was a rare event and nobody could have predicted that on 20 December 2018 when the statement was issued.

How about the 17th of Jan then ?

That run is dated 12/01/2019 and from a past comment in the QLD cyclone thread GFS was toying with a low hanging around in the gulf/cape/western coral on it's 14/01/2019 extended run. There was even a joke about building an ark.

Heavy shower late this afternoon,

I see the media in Brisbane have tried to hype Oma into the end of the world again and again mother nature has thrown a middle finger at them. FFS I got a PM on Twitter from a bloke on the Sunshine coast who lives on the first floor of a block of flats asking me how many sandbags he would need to protect his flat. Bloody media frightening people for no good reason apart from selling more advertising. And just now Channel 7 saying something about 11 metre waves on the Gold Coast overnight. Makes me mad as all hell.

Maximum wave heights of 12-13 metres were recorded at Mooloolaba and off Point Lookout yesterday Friday, which is larger than those recorded in cyclone Oswald!

Got 25mm on Saturday night with another 10.5mm yesterday in kelso up near the dam, ground was drying out in top few inches of ground, was about to out the sprinklers. the 35.5mm caused pooling which never really happens with that amount of rain so the ground is fully saturated down deep. Big trees are lovin it.

Hi all,

This a post for the monsoon, but am posting here as it is more likely to be seen. Apologies for cross-posting!
Does anyone have any rainfall data for Rosslea for the monsoonal flooding week (Bowen Rd end of Lindsay St but backing onto Hodel st)? I have a unit and they are trying to tell us that is was 'flood damage' from the dam being opened and that it was not water ingress from the Sat or Sunday (even though we have a few photos that would suggest otherwise). Any other information or hot tips that would help would be most appreciated to try and get some of my lost money back! It would mean the world to me and the other three owners of units! Feel free to PM me please. Thanks!
