Well I was wrong about the initial shake being the biggest..... fly out at 9am tmrw..clocks ticking for me.....that was a good one then......still sedate but enough that Iím guessing everyone in LA but on the beach wouldíve got that, but Iím not across the local landscape that well.. choppers flying all over though checking things out. Iíd doubt there would be any damage different to the vey localised area up in the valley. Hope not anyway...

Tsunami, I think itís one of those feelings that can never be explained well, unless you experience one, u just donít know. Itís a helpless gut wrenching feeling... I cannot imagine anything real big like Indo or Japan... would be horrible and probably scar you for life. In the meantime , fair chance there may be another cpl of rumbles tonight.

Hi folks.....leave for one day and come back and find the messy stuff happening in the U.S..

Well they did go on to have a bigger quake after the M6+. As I said before...time will tell, but I had a bit of a feeling that the M6+ may have been the biggest one they may get there currently - well I was wrong. The nerves of the good folks over there must be shattered.
The M7 may have been the last of the biggies now. As with other locations on the planet that have had biggies and relentless movements, the size of the magnitudes fluctuates as the region settles - moves again - settles - moves again and so on,

I understand you and your wife's unsettledness BIG T. That movement would probably want me to leave as well. I must admit though, I would very curious to see what land/earth changes [cracks, shifts etc.] had occurred because of the quakes - with no disrespect to the folks affected by such.

I wonder if, as did I said it may gravitate {energy} to the south'ish, north'ish and west'ish] to other regions as well. Meaning could these quakes have put pressure on other faults - maybe enough to cause movements as well?????

I get a bit of a feeling that we may see some unusual spots come up in the U.S. for tremors, along with some of the 'regular' locations.

Alaska, at some point, may come into some extra niggles - maybe also a location with some very focused and repetitive movements...??

Kino, my friend, I am still contemplating where to focus my EQ ramblings. I am gonna miss the way this forum works - it is easy to navigate, post etc.. I have my blog re-started - haven't added any EQ ramblings yet...........

For now, Duck.

It seems a few people have already migrated to The Australian Weather Forum, and it seems they are making changes there to accommodate us. Sounds great to me, so I have signed up as "28degrees" since it wouldn't allow the "@" symbol.

I would imagine you would be able to start a thread there.

The earthquake threads at CDweather ( in general science section and the section set up for WZoners are deader than driftwood). I see nothing comparable on ski yoghurt. So what is a poor boy to do.
