Good luck Helen - hope you get precipitated on smile

How often does this happen - the winds for Adelaide are predicted to come from four corners of the compass today:
"Forecast for Monday Fine. Mostly sunny afternoon. Light to moderate northeast to northwest winds turning southwest during the afternoon and southeast in the evening" crazy

I can see three showers in the central mallee and one near Morgan on the radar. No lightning yet on the tracker but it's a fair bet for a bit later maybe?
Quite unusual to see high cloud on the satpic coming down to the head of the bight from the NNE.

My weather station is still flashing rain soon.... i'm guessing tommorow arvo / evening possibly night when all that juicy tropical cloud makes its presence felt. Nothing on the official forecast though!

Special note : nice cold pool of air south west of Perth,,, whats it going to do?

awesome sunset there Helen, I immediately thought of laying on my car bonnet drinking a sparkling ale watching just that, which will soon be too cold to do!

Evening All

I'm no expert by any means, but judging on the forecast accuracy lately I would ingore everything they say except the temp, they are so far off the mark its crazy, take the last 2 days, yesterday the forecast started off fine, then showers & storms YP, then showers & storms Central & West, then Adelaide got mention of a "Developing shower or two with early morning thunder" Adelaide got sqwat! Today they still have not put up anywhere in any forecast of the showers that have pushed up between the back of the ranges & the riverland & they are still solid & tracking lol, I went for a drive & got a couple of photos which I'll post tomorrow

The weather is fairly simple in my book, use Weatherzone, models, SAt, Radar, & BSCH, then listen to the experts on here who are far more accurate than anyone smile

Nice sunset Helen smile

Welcome to the forum 'jack63' as always we welcome your input (hopefully more positive).
I can't help but ask what part of the hills your in, so we all can put your comments in an area perspective.

Nice cold pool of air behind that WA front is now recycling south, following it's parent low, so it's not going to threaten us. As for this central Australia cloud mass / stream it too is heading south and going to cloud us over. Expect afternoon cu development and once again some distant threatening ominous clouds. No rain in Adelaide today frown but you can always wish it to develop into an afternoon shower / storm,, like i wish smile. Why do i get the feeling Cleve is going to get more rain this arvo ... may as well include Kadina while i'm at it.
Aztech could see some action to his north this arvo... again. Northern EP the place to be.

Suits me that there's no rain. I'm off to Innes National Park for an overnighter and whilst I welcome some cloud, I don't really fancy getting wet. wink

went fishing offshore from sunrise to sunset yesterday,
water was a millpond again with 0.5m swell 20k out, some
nice crispy lines of accas in the morning developing to
a solid field of cu conj over land in the arvo, big anvil
waaay to the south in the morning to but moved off east
quickly, heavy fog started offshore about an hour after
sundown but penetrated about 10km inland by about 9:30,
was clear for the rest of the trip home but i woke up to
my first pea souper for the year. it was hard to imagine
looking at that lot that yesterday cracked over 33 and
today is supposed to make 34

TH I was thinking on the weekend how counterintuitive it is (for me anyway) that we can be on the edge of such a vast body of water and be watching such tiny waves. There was no swell at all when I was down the beach here on Sunday I think it was, and the waves were less than a foot high.
Beautiful living weather if you don't mind a bit of heat Weathergod smile
This is a situation when the forecasts (both ours and BOMs) can be really frustrating (of necessity because we aren't able to be more accurate) but I would really like to know whether the ground is going to be wet or dry on wed, thurs and friday and forecasts such as "chance of a shower" or "mainly fine" do not tell me the anser wink

By the way I do believe that there is either a forum guideline or an unspoken convention that the BOM forecasters are our friends and if we occasionally critique their forecasts we do it with a smile and knowing that they've trained long and hard to be meteorologists and it's their professional employment and they have to produce detailed forecasts to deadlines no matter how foggy the view in the crystal ball is smile
On another and slightly ot, I was just reminded that the ground is an impenetrable cap (as a first approximation) to falling water and when it hits it, it spreads sideways like a rising cumulus tower meeting a cap - damned dishwater all over my shoes poke

there is also an unspoken convention that says we
do not speak about unspoken conventions. poke
and on the other......

down here we don't just have drains, we have DRAINS.
