This will be one of the very last forums ever made here so I do hope we can get a big system to help close the forums out.

A wet week is set for Southern South Australia from mid week with the first cold front to move through around Midday for the Adelaide area and looks to be the wettest of the few. General falls of 2-6mm for the city and around 10-15mm for the hills from the main band, with another 4-10mm from stream showers following the front, up to 20mm in the hills, isolated spots of 25mm possible.

Ahead of the front, a trough will direct N to NW winds down and will be quite windy, NW winds averaging 45-55 gusting to 90km/h before tending westerly 40-50km/h, gusts to 90 with the front. A decent LLJ will be attachd to the front with winds of 110-115km/h hence the gusty conditions with the front. There is the chance of some small hail in intense cells, but likely on Kangaroo Island and the far south of the Fleurieu Peninsula.
The Lower South east should do well with this front and the showers where they will be heavy at times with local hail. Falls of 15 to 25mm expected.

A weaker and narrower secondary front will move through around 12-1230PM with stream showers to follow. 2-5mm expected from the front for the city and up to another 10-15mm for the Hills. Stream showers should deliver a further 3-8mm for the city and another 10-20mm in the hills.
Westerly winds to turn NW ahead of this front, tending west to southwesterly 30-45km/h gusts to 80km/h before easing later Saturday morning.

All in all, Adelaide should see 20-30mm to 9AM Saturday, up to 60mm in the hills wiht local heavier patches of 70mm possible.

SWW been issued:

IDS21037
Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology
TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST

Severe Weather Warning
for DAMAGING WINDS
For people in Adelaide Metropolitan, Mount Lofty Ranges, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Mid North, Kangaroo Island, Murraylands, Upper South East, Lower South East and parts of West Coast, Flinders and Riverland districts.

Issued at 3:58 pm Tuesday, 9 July 2019.
Damaging winds for the south of SA on Wednesday with a strong cold front.

Weather Situation: One of the strongest cold fronts so far this winter will sweep across South Australia during Wednesday afternoon and evening. The front will bring damaging winds, squally showers and thunderstorms to much of the southern half of the State.
Strong to damaging northwest to westerly winds, averaging 50-70 km/h with gusts in excess of 90 km/h are expected to develop about southern coastal districts and also about the Mount Lofty Ranges during Wednesday morning, then extend across the warning area during the afternoon.
For southern parts of the warning area, there is also a risk of locally destructive winds with gusts in excess of 125 km/h, associated with heavy showers or thunderstorms near the cold front.
For the Adelaide area, the strongest winds and heaviest rain are likely from about mid afternoon into the evening.
Locations which may be affected on Wednesday morning include Port Lincoln, Kingscote, Victor Harbor and Strathalbyn, extending during the afternoon to include Adelaide, Mount Gambier, Maitland, Clare, Murray Bridge and Keith.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your property.
* Stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are severe.

The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 11:00 pm ACST Tuesday.
Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.

From what I have heard, this will be the strongest front so this winter.

What’s happening to the forums?.

Ripper tail-wind on the way home at 4:30! Dodged the rain as well so I arrived home dry :-)

Some nice red on the radar:

This front was quite severe through the LSE with some 100-110km gusts recorded and most likely locally higher, might even see some tornado damage paths come sunrise tomorrow. Some very solid storms along the frontal boundary down there with very low lcls...a classic SE lashing.

Lacking in rain as Eevo says. July has some catching up to do already.
If youd been watching the news last night youd have thought Armageddon had arrived - ridiculous overhyping

Recorded a bit of a disappointing 4.0mm, outside the predicted 6-15mm for the Adelaide area. Still, some is better than none.

22mm here in eastern adelaide hills, plus power off for 5 hrs last night.

You folk are not migrating well to any new sites I see, I posted on all three CD, SKI and AWF to see what would happen and no one has added on any SA threads, while all other eastern states seem to be up and running well on one or the other, mainly CD and SKI. cheers

there wasn't exactly a huge number of SA posts on here anyway over the last few mths, so I'm not entirely sure its going to translate to a pick up on any other forum. TBH I"ve posted more on here in the last week than I probably have in the year so far. Reckon you are probably the same!
NSW/SE QLD/Trops all still had a pretty dedicated core group of posters but majority of SA migrated to FB mainly, which isnt great for those that dont use it obviously. It also doesnt have the ability to archive and search in an easy way either.
FWIW, If I'm going to post anywhere in the future I think I will be on the CD proboards.

BTW, had 11mm here in Valley View, and another couple mm today so far.

Facebook is torrid crap but it makes posting images and video drag and drop simple, which this place doesn't have (probably for the best) but is the thing that most casuals want these days.

My storm tracker (storm pro 2) is going off but nothing visible on radar. Even after a complete shut down and fresh noise test it is still going off. Anyone else detecting anything?
