Trivial conversation, yes perhaps.

SB I also initially had similar thoughts. But gave ski a go and am happy with it. I liked your posts and think they would fit well in general weather on ski.

You'd be surprised. Your choice though. (shakes head)
There's some very learned people there re climate discussion, but your opinion is clearly based on ignorance of the site.
Check it out if you are looking for somewhere to go.
I actually think you would get more discussion there, in the right thread, then you ever did at this dead quiet place on the focus of your interests.

Ski.com it is then - everyone has been lovely there so far. Plus multiple threads set up just for us without any whinging.

Yep.
Leelee.
Not only without whining, they have bent over backwards to accommodate us.

Yep, and some of the comments are disgraceful, and worthy of the lower echelons of social media more than a weather forum.
Worse still, some of the comments come from our own.

You know that thread in particular ain't in the Weather section, but in City-Data Talk instead...that is a special, "Bear Pit"-like section of its own. Also, that thread in particular was made to mock certain posts from any other weather forum; my latest run is of the now-locked Climate Driver thread, as evidently seen.

As you can see, only certain posts are being mocked—not the entire forum.

It doesn't matter what excuse you use. It's on the web for all to see.

The message left by the dolphins when they departed Planet Earth just before it was demolished to make way for a hyperspace bypass: "So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish".

Likewise it is for your humble writer, "So Long, and Thanks for All the Fun and learning" nearly 18 years following the Forum, which is also being demolished to make way thanks to a bean-counter's bypass.

May you have the hindsight to know where you've been
the foresight to know where you're going
and the insight to know when you're going too far.

I already know that, Homer. If you don't want to post on CDWeather, then no one's forcing you to—but don't try and mislead the rest of the forum that we're somehow mocking the entirety of WZ, when in reality, only a selection of posts are being mocked (particularly of the AGW/controversial-themed threads...and only me and a few others take part in it).

Don't worry, I won't be posting there. And, I'm just alerting other WZ'ers as to the content on the site so as they can make their own decisions.

I suppose you think that posts like these are ok, do you?

" What about that Bendigo guy "chasers addict" who can't even [censored] write in English?"

"Holy [censored], that man has forgotten about the humble full stop."

"Let's see the best of the worst from creatures which escaped god's quality control on other weather forums, such as Netweather, Weatherzone etc.

"To start things off, yet another gem from the biggest mongoloid on weatherzone"

"As much of a faggot as that guy is I am hating the smoke too, it's really [censored]"

"^^^ This guy clearly escaped god's quality control"

"Standard tasmanian inbreds."

"It is terrifying knowing that people like this exist".

All those comments are just from page 1 of the thread, and half of them are from one of the admin.
If you want to participate in such a weather forum, go for it.
The fact that you have chosen to, and personally chosen to add to this particular thread, says it all.

Blimey, forgot about that first series of posts from the admin and others.

Pardon my blindness!

Now I see what you mean by nastiness...but still, it's just the "forbidden" section.

Let's be honest, the thread over there basically consists of posters mocking people from various forums (this one is heavily featured) for not sharing the same views as them. No way I'll ever be posting over there.

Actually that’s not true. Most of the stuff is mocking people making outrageous statements - like 20c is a heatwave or a week of 30 & I’m going to self-combust 🙄😂👀

I stand by what I said. Show me one post they've taken the mickey out of over there that ISN'T pro-climate change. You can't.

And I don't take it back since I'm merely pointing out what I read in that thread. Just calling a spade a spade.

No, it’s your interpretation of it...I read it differently. Yes a few climate change posts are rubbished, esp the last few pages but before that it was a mix of stupid temp posts.

And besides, most of the forum members actually share the "pro-consensus" view, as I call it, on Climate Change:

http://cdweather.boards.net/threads/recent/1821

Notice the most commonly-voted option.

Climate change is real and humans are causing it = 30 votes

Climate change is real but humans have little to no effect = 9 votes

It's all a hoax = 5 votes

I voted for the little effect option, of course. wink
