I live near Chadstone VIC, nearby prices are around $1.16 to $1.19 PL, however, Costco towards Dandenong my friend said the price of Diesel was $0.99c which is awesome. Just wish I had a Costco card as those values are insane, should take a few jerry cans with me grin

$108.9 here in Bundy at one servo. Never saw it below $126.9 in 8 years in Cairns and that was with a fuel docket. Most of those years it was above $1.40

Shell servo cnr of Scotland and Cran Sts East Bundaberg.

That's diesel by the way in response to the post above mine. The servo on the cnr of Isis Hwy and Powers St is probably about the best for unleaded at the moment.

Down to 105.9 if you're heading this way again.

Bugga. I came back from Hbay today and thought I was doing well at $1.09 for diesel at Isis.

Next time I head that way I will check with you for the cheapest price before I get there. smile

Just noticed this post so thought II'd give you a bit of history to make you really cranky over prices.

I grew up in a Roadhouse on the highway to Toowoomba (Hattonvale to be exact). In 1976 we changed our pumps from gallons to litres. I remember Dad had a pink fit when he saw the price and rang Caltex twice to check it was right simply because a litre was so much less, hence the price was fairly 'low' compared to gallons.
Anyway, I had the 'honour' of changing the pump prices (all done manually back then).

The price per litre in 1976?

17.4 cents per litre.

Nowadays that's the difference between some servos rather than the actual price lol!

Now up to present day stuff, I work in a small diner in Wondai, 20 mins out of Kingaroy. We buy fuel from an independent operator and our price is usually between 3 to 5 cents lower than in Kingaroy. Apparently the servos have an agreement between each other regarding prices & our boss won't come in on that agreement. Now he's a pretty small operator but still manages to make a dollar at the lower price, frankly it makes the Kingaroy mob (and there's a few of them) look foolish.

Now that sort of garbage & the pressure that the big oil companies put on the small operators started back in the late 70's & is the one reason why eventually we sold up & got out of the business in '81. There's no reason for it except pure greed.

I worked for Woolworths petrol in Brisbane about 10 years ago.
One day 2 'big wigs' came visiting to see how things were going etc. They forgot to close the office door (which led straight into the console area where I was working) The conversation I heard just left me shaking my head.
It was about September, school holidays had just finished & the price was moving up after being discounted to grab the travellers' market. I can't remember specifics but basically one guy was describing to the other how the overall price would now slowly creep up (with a few dips to make it look legit) until the Xmas holiday period. When Xmas started they would dramatically drop the price thus snaring a lot of bargain hunting holidayers. But in that whole timeframe they weren't expecting their costs to waver much.
It's the biggest con job there is; I only wish I could grow petrol in my garden somehow, lmao!

@ Kazz63

My brother once worked in a petrol station, and he used to get on well with the owner. He always said that the prices are fixed by the overlords.

I live in a mining town, the prices are generally higher then usual. But the funniest thing is it does'nt see-saw like that in the lower Hunter or in the populated areas, it basically stays the same price for a week or two (or even a month). Surprisingly at times I have found it cheaper at home then in the city (in footy season period I'm in the city at least every fortnight and get to see the variances).

I am lucky enough not having to really worry about fuel prices, as I only live 5 mins to work, and when you live out of town, you always pick up things that you need when your in town. During the footy off season period I may fill up every 4 weeks (my lawn mower uses more fuel in that period then my car!) but even during footy season, I may fill up once every 1-2 weeks (depending on the game scheduling). That 50-55 litres per tank that I use and generally do about 500km between tanks. I use an app on my phone to keep track of the expenses on my vehicle which does calculate fuel usage, etc. Today I will be fuelling up the vehicle (even though it says 1/4 of a tank, but I need to pick up fuel for the mower/pumps. I usually get 50litres for the equipment and the rest for the vehicle. I use my 4cents docket up to 100ltrs at my local United (as they still sell normal unleaded with no ethonal as my vehicle has a steel tank and fuel lines). The last time I had filled the car up was 7/12/2015. 6 weeks isn't to bad between tanks, and I really don't need to refuel either.

ATM the fuel here in Singo is 126.9 for standard unleaded.

Oh nowadays you'd be lucky to find anyone who owns their servo outright like we did, no contracts with a specific fuel company, no deals because the equipment belongs to someone else. Hence why they are bound to a certain price.
We were branded Caltex at the start but when we started getting pressure from them to fix our prices to a certain level we started being supplied by a private distributor. Caltex didn't like that, tried playing 'rough' so Dad stripped all mention of Caltex from all the signs & next time the 'bigwigs' came calling he grabbed the signage & put it all in front of the guy's car & said 'take it away & don't come back'.
It's too cut throat now, you'd be mad to try being a small business in that sector because you can't operate without some kind of binding deal that will end up screwing you over & making the 'big ones' even richer.

Just saw a pic of the Star Roadhouse at Miriamvale. Diesel for 98.9. Unleaded 114.9.

Years since there was such a difference in the prices.

103.9c/L for E10 at 7/11 Dapto. I think it's under a dollar at the independent ones in Wollongong.

Only a couple in town that don't have their fuel full of bio crap which is a no,no for common rail diesels.

United have a lot of servo's in this end of the state.

All fuel used between Broome and Mackay comes out of Singapore with price matching to Australian prices.

To see what the wholesalers are paying for "from the refinery gate" prices click on the link below.

Been many, many years since I saw diesel under $1.00. It was higher than that when I left Melbourne in '93.
