our fuel price here in townsville dropped to 79.9 on tuesday night. for the past 3 weeks they have been going up to 88 or 89 every thursday then dropping 10 on tuesdays.
usually they have very little fluctuation here, usually only a few cents at a time. but there is not much competition here, all the main ones and woolies of course, but we just got out first United petrol station last month.

Saw the price for ULP up to 106.9 in Morwell last night. Rest of the Valley will follow suit no doubt. Our average price is in the high 90s anyway. In two years down here I've only seen the price below 90 cents once for about 2 hours!

With prices like that in Morwell, ULP in Cowwarr will be up around $1.10/Litre frown

Worst thing is both cars need filling up mad

Hello Friends: Well, I saw something I've never seen (here) before---gas(petrol) over $US2 a gallon! A few days ago, I passed by DJ's Grocery (the closest store to my house) and Premium Unleaded was $2.05 per gallon (Reg Unl--what I use--was $1.87/gal). The petrol at Wal-Mart (Murphy Oil)--usu the cheapest in town---today (Sat) was $1.87; just around 3 wks ago their price was $1.52/gal.

This reminds me of 25 or so yrs ago; I had my first car and I thought that 70c/gal was High price for gas then. Shortly after, the prices started to creep up and I hated to look at the prices as they seemed to rise everyday!!! "Those that don't remember history......".

Now, I Fully realize that the petrol prices in the US are relatively cheap( comp to elsewhere in the world); but what gets me is that the prices seem to be governed by greed---With All the Gas/Oil reserves (wells & Gas fields) that the US has, why is the price so high and increasing daily? I think it's an "artificial" shortage as I've heard quite a few stories about producing gas/oil wells being capped off to create a shortage.
I wish everyone in the US could be like people in the Netherlands/China etc, whose people ride bicycles instead of relying on cars.
I'm disabled on a fixed income and rising prices/greed are really putting a pinch on people like me.

Cheers~~~David Powell

Mike P. I used to live at Nambrok and back then I had a Nissan Bluebird. Now it was a few years back so I am not blaming anyone and by now the petrol tanks might have been changed but I got some petrol at the shop there in Cowwar and withing 2kms my car was playing up big time. I ended up with water and dirt in the fuel filter. My car was really fuel sensitive and it didnt only happen with the fuel from Cowwar. The moral of this story  is only try to fill up at fairly new servos. Sorry to bore you all. Fuel here at Pakenham is currently 99.5.

I've only ever put $10 in at Cowwarr once - normally I fill up when I'm in Sale (couple of cents cheaper than Traralgon). When I'm in Melbourne (used to work there 3 days a week) I fill up at the Ampol in Pakenham. Decent price, good service and Red Rooster smile

$105.9 in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. For the first time I have to thank Red Symons (ex rockstar, now on ABC radio in the morning) for mentioning the petrol price hike planned for later that day - he wasn't wrong and I saved $7.20on petrol....mmmm, amd it was a nice cake too!! laugh

LOL Jane!

Yeah was a bit shocked to see prices about the $1.04 mark around Knox. Eased a little this afternoon, with some service stations, particularly BP back to about 1.01

For short distances I am relying more on the old push bike. That saves a bit of fuel, but unfortuneatly the winter months here make it far less of an option. But is it still more comfortable getting from point A to point B in the freezing cold than walking.
