LOL you want me to list some of the better days....I can.

The past 3 years would have been the best weve had since 1998, the period from 2000-2003 was pretty lame. Some wicked storms late 2004 with that retrograding low, the Jan 2005 insane beast that came down from the north after dark plus some killer high based ones in Nov and december last year. Brilliant lightning, but most not much inw ay of rain and hail. Maybe he's expecting 40mm from the storms...that might happen once every 10 years lol.

But in terms of quality lightning, we've had it on every capitical city in the country, the wz threads speak for themselves as do the SA ASWA photographers, brilliantly talented.

The best storm we had in recent times is Jan 23rd 2005 (I think!) and more recently Dec 28/29 which had some great storms especially for the malee which does well around that time.

Been quite lucky this month rainfall wise and recorded 34.8mm and rainfall to date is 596.4mm

Hopefully one day I can come to an ASWA meeting when I get my full lisence, and get to meet everybody. smile

yeah certainly a ripper around australia day in 2005 and the december 2004 storms will always stand out in my mind as the best..

i'll go out on a limb here and suggest that things might get interesting in a week to ten days time.. there is a massive heat low progged by EC and BOM 7-day chart and to a lesser extent GFS.. not sure about moisture with EC but certainly looks to be hot with 850 temps fairly high for 9;30am up north on the 8th.

not sure about storm potential.. need a certain lennies clarification laugh

LOL yer, that day was Jan 20th weathergod, well evening 19th and early morning of 20th! Killer storms that night.

Major inland heat coming, I noted this about 5 days ago with likely patterns conducive to a low forming, cos we have had such a dominant zonal flow lately and that will allow heat to build up over the inland. There has been the dominant Indian Ocean ridge pushing in sw of WA often and this will be the best area to dent the zonal flow by intruding cold air north with cold air advection. In turn this will allow the synoptic isobaric pattern to deepen the WA heat low and quickly move SE ahead of the new ridge and drag a lot of heat SEward. Inland SA and parts of WA and NT look like hitting high 30's and low 40's. Should be a real cooker for october, a very Feb like pattern with such a strong inland low and heat. It did look like there would be more moisture associated with it before but now seems that only isolated thundery showers are the go, especially out west.

Def watch and see, Adelaide atm looking at around 32-33C, Port Augusta 37-38C and 40-43C over inland SA.

Right for today TH but it does not look all that bad for south SA imo, fronts are coming too rapidly and no real sustained northerlies to bring much heat down south SA,imo anyway.
Adelaide may crack 30 odd today, but tommorow is back to 17 or 18C by the look. And Tuesday, today, looks the only real warm to hot day here, Next Friday is the only other candidate it appears with a maybe 27 or 28C max by the look of the latest charts.
Northern SA, well bit hotter up there for sure, but that is par for the course anyway at Innaminka. That is what you get such good money for Paul!

Big change in charts from last night to this morning after days of consistency, keeping best heat inland a little more, which won't affect temps there, still going 40C+ in many northern SA locations, just a bit less to more mid 30's for Upper north and Flinders.

Def like the look ok the low tho and the ensuing patterns afterwards, seems to be a constant strong jet aloft which will rapidly intensify any small troughs that start to form into lows.

TE Friday onwards can't see much heat for the south either. The North only by the look.
TH sorry...TE, TS, TH, SGI, GS, PM, UN, BD, etc gets a little confusing sometimes!

Yer as Lennie said, models this morning have kept most heat inland, although should still see high 20's at least for Adelaide by Friday-Saturday.

30C here in Whyalla already atm.. (very quick trip lol) Will easily get the forecast 33C...
Very dry out here on EP as well with DP's around minus 10 to 20...

Getting rather windy out here..
I see Port Lincoln is gusting over 70km/hr. They also had a rather rude wind switch just before 12 when the seabreeze turned to the strong northerly upping the temperature from 20C to 30C in a matter of minutes....
