My boyfriend luke travels to Caloundra to fish once ever 6 weeks. He catches heaps, just wish there were good fishing around the keppels so he would not have to travel

Yeah Willow that looks pretty good. Like my dad used to catch back when I was a kid. Luke catches big mackerel like that, plus also red emperor, cod, perl perch and my favorite Wahoo at caloundra.. We are going there again in 2 weeks.

I here it helps to have your name on your hat to win the Bowen comp Willow. We are talking about a run out to the Ferns of Keppels this weekend.

DJ: 'PI Fishing' no doubt.
Miss T : Any room in the boat for 1 more?
Anyone who cares to listen: Organisers of the Bowen fishing comp have let us down once again. People living outside of Bowen can't enter the comp because tickets were removed from sale Friday lunchtime. I have spoken to 9 people just tonight who could not get tickets. The local tackle shops cannot beleive the number of people asking for the no longer available tickets.
Also (while I'm on the soapbox) Bowen has some of the best beaches and parks in Queensland yet they still hold the Classic at a dirty little backwater near the grubby end of town. Bowen badly needs to cash in on the extended tourism boom that has hit Whitsunday and a good start would be to move this event to somewhere between Queens Beach and Horseshoe Bay IMHO.
Still going fishing but. With or without a ticket in the comp.

I agree Willow.
We had the seafood festival at Hansen Park last year, and it was a huge success.
The Front Beach is the dirtiest part of town, with possibly the worst road to hold it on too.
I only go to the weigh-in's, the rest is just a drunken yobbo bogan fest. Hardly family friendly, like the organisers would like us to think.

Cheers

Just went for a drive to Airlie/Prossie.
Passed a lot of boats on the way down heading for Bowen, and passed even more leaving Bowen on my way back. eek

Looks like a normal day of Caloundra. The bull Dolphin is a good fish. I wish there were fish like that around Yeppoon, would save a 6.5hr drive to Caloundra.

Ok currently in qld we have reef fin fish ban. So no good catches to report. However crabs are in abundance in the O"connel and Proserpine Rivers. Damo me mate got a catch of prawns near flying fox island on the Prossy river. Make sure u go well and truly before the high tide peaks and not to long after the run out tide. Also if ur on the northern side of the river dont forget to add an hour to the tide times. At the mouth theres an a half hour differnce from standard port "Mackay Outer Harbour" refer to that tide sheet. Numerous people have got stuck up the creek due to their lack of knowledge and understanding. So tight lines and lets go fishing. cheers

Hi Craig just wondering if you saw the fishing report in this week's register. If so, any mention of snapper or sharks about? I'm heading out tonight with a mate either to Currarong or JB.
