Of much more interest to Qld surfers is the Southern Coral Sea. For the first time this season, there is an increasing level of confidence that it may spawn a potentially strong swell generating system during the middle of next week as the monsoon trough pushes further south. This scenario is likely to be exacerbated by the presence of a strong ridging high in the Tasman Sea at the same time, and weíre potentially looking at the first significantly large swell event of the year later next week and into the weekend.

Apparently a small crew were getting towed into 6-8ft bombs off Alex/Mooloolaba around lunchtime, waverider buoy there is peaking at 6.5m so it sounds about right.

If I had something with a bit more drive in my quiver and knew someone with a ski I'd get out there wink

It'd be close to that today, happens at least once a year.

http://www.swellnet.com.au/reports/marweek4.htm

That was a pretty big week for the Qld Coast, 10ft+ on the Wednesday.

12ft might have been pushing it for Kirra, but 8ft no doubt.

Other noteable swell events were Rewa in 92, Sose in 2001...Sose was insane, I did a quick google and found a write up on Surfline with a few Ted Grambeau shots of it smoking. As you'd know it's pretty rare to get it that clean and holding too eek

Well Boys last Saturday was the bigest I have ever surfed on the Gold Coast. What a blast heart just pounding. We towed into some huge waves at around 9.00am from Snapper to Kirra.Had the ski up to 60kph driven down the face.
Huge faces easy 6 or 7 meters. The wave bouy at surfers read one wave at 11 meters that morning.

A low pressure system currently located NW of New Caledonia is expected to track towards the Central Qld coastline over the weekend, and thereís now a reasonable level of confidence that itíll develop into a Tropical Cyclone. However, itís expected to remain almost completely out of our swell window .More significant easterly swell for Qld throughout most of next week, but these developments all hinge on the track of the system currently developing in the Coral Sea. Beyond this, signs are also quite positive for more easterly swell throughout the end of next week due to an abundance of energy in the Northern Tasman Sea and the Tropical South Pacific.

Tow Surfer - please source any information you copy from the internet. This is a direct cut n' paste of Swellnet's Qld surf forecast (which I spent a lot of time preparing yesterday). I have already asked you about this twice before with no response ( here and here ) - are you ignorning my posts on purpose?
