This gives you a map of the current offshore sea surface temperatures along the NSW coast.

This page gives you a few other things to choose from that may be of interest to you.

The CSIRO Remote Sensing site is great for this info. It's a 7-day average, so there's rarely any holes due to cloud-cover (which can affect the MHL dataset). There is also an approximate surface current shown over the top, which has it's uses for those operating offshore.

Hi John,

Another good site you may wish to try is:

http://www.coastalwatch.com

It has specific conditions for each area which include water temperature as well as wind direction, commentaries and web cams for many locations around Australia.

Regards,
Michael

G'day all,
If anyone is interested in Port Phillip Bay and Bass Strait water temps follow the links through www.surfshop.com.au to 'weather reports' and then to 'How cold is the bay?"(provided by Melbourne Uni-earth sciences).
It's good to see the water temp is finally on the way up!
