I went to victor on saturday and it was a fun..but hard work 2'. The cross shore / offshore wind made it very difficult at about 30 - 40kts. haha.

Would have liked to have gone to brighton / bay over the last few days. I imagine it would have been quite sizey.

On another note, the fanastic noodles big wave pro jr is going to be held this thursday in SA!! so it is definately a big swell coming through!

Swell has ben turning it on in this neighborhood for probably the last month. smile

Yes and no Craig. You guys still get the odd South swell during Spring, but generally tend to miss out on the majority of the tradewind swell that we might get from the odd stationary high in the Tasman, so it's a mixed bag across the east coast at this time of year.

First week of spring looks to be a classic example. We just have to manage the local winds, waiting in anticipation for when the high moves further east and we get a limited window of opportunity for something semi-favourable in the dissipation of the onshore winds that go with them (the Tasman highs).

Also - I'm going to do a surf trip down to the south east (Robe) mid september for a couple of days - any reccommendations on where to go. i don't actually have a 4WD so that's a bit of a problem with accessing most of long beach.. haha. but yeah. Any advice would be much appreciated.

And no Stokie - no one was out on that ledge! it looked really good. but very sketchy. i think with a lot less size it would be really fun!! I would love to get back over to Yorkes again really soon.

Thanks

Sean.

Oath Sean, some freakin sick beasts out there today, have been glued to the cam for a bulk of the day, some wicked monstrous barrels, you really know when it's 15'+ size just takes the next step, quite a few today just jacked up and were simply massive, god bordering on 18-20' would not have surprised me.

Yeah it was amazing watching the footage being beamed from a boat a couple of K's offshore!

And the waves were epic, great call on the swell Ben cool , 15ft sets with a couple of bigger waves that I would easily call 20ft! Can't wait to see the stills and additional footage coming from this event!

Some of the barrels those groms were taking on and making were amazing, still frothing on the whole magnitude of it! Yew!

Head to Stonie Rise Percy, can't miss it, follow the signs off the main road through robe. You can only get so far with a 2wd but once your as far as you can go, take your stuff and go for a short 5min walk along the sand 4wd drive track and you'll find it! Better quality than longbeach but you want a small to medium sized swell as it doesn't handle much above 5ft+

Keen to see some pics from that trip as well! Goodluck!

Hey guys, finally got round to getting some pics up, these are what were left on my cam from my final day around the Elliston area, surf snaps are mostly of Mt.Camel Beach from this one and rock shots from the Woolshed. Still yet to get my pics from remaining days off my damaged laptop, not sure how long that will be but will let ya's know!

Here is one snap anyways from the Woolshed:

I took a day off work and went down to Victor yesterday, it was huge! I spent so much time checking spots, I wasted about 3 hours surf time going from spot to spot and checking and contemplating giving it a crack.

Shark alley wasn't really working very well, could've been the tide or something but it wasn't breaking consistenly. Waits and Parsons were epic, Knights Boomer and Bullies were huge.

I went out at Chiton in the end, was around 6ft+ with some long walls. Wasn't really barreling that well but was stll good fun to get some good size.

Nice work Lennie!!!

The situation remains rather dire along the east coast. We've received some brief pulses of southerly swell in the past few days but most of it missed the South Coast. The Newcastle area did alright though (as it usually does in south swells) Unfortunately the outlook remains quite ordinary with wave heights continuing near the 2ft mark.

Winter 2009 produced a large number of fun sized south swells along the east coast mostly in the 2-4ft range. Unfortunately we didn't really experience any large days, and certainly no huge days.A poor winter overall in my opinion.

I have to agree Pingtang.

There were some fun east swells around the 4-6ft mark across Sydney, with a couple of similar sized southerly swells but no ECL's or large and prolonged SE swells. In between those good days of waves there was near nothing and I agree that this has been a below average winter.

The bad thing about where your living is that the acute southerly swells hardly make any impact down there due to the shadowing of certain geographical features. Looks like the Hunter region has been the pick of the coast over the last 3 weeks or so, picking up every tiny bit of available swell energy.

And yeah great work TS! A bit bigger than what Darwin gets ay wink

Few more from my trip over to the West Coast, big surf is Locks Well, epic waves.

Next two are a sequence of two, light was bad unfortunately...

Nice lil reefie break I found as well on my travels, had some very nice waves at times, both left and right but was also rather rippy as you can see.

Nice pics ts, that last one looks like a pretty unique setup.

Southeast should have some good waves and wind this weekend percy, you should find something down there!

I've been overseas for the last few weeks, looking forward to getting back in the water this weekend. Looks like there's a bit of swell for SA to!

Hey guys, sorry no post for a while, been busy doing lots of surfing and a trip overseas to the Mentawais, which was awesome!

Here's some shots from the trip..

After missed flights, excessive fee's on extra baggage weight, dodgy macca's meat at KL that tasted like cooked rat, more admin fees and a very rough trip out across the strait between the islands and mainland Sumatra I had an awesome time!

Stayed on a boat for 11 days and even though there was no real big swell until the last day there was still plenty of fun waves in the 3ft range with some days being slightly bigger.

Being on a boat and cruising around the islands kept it interesting, and a stop over for fuel in isolated Sikakap allowed me to move around the streets a bit more...

1) First wave of the trip, a real fun ledgey right that only works in small swells..

2) Got a 12 shot sequence of this guy (Mario) getting barreled, very stylish surfer..

3)An island on the way to the funnest left in the world..

4) The funnest left in the world..

5)..

6)..

7)Like the feel of this shot, nice peak with my mate Kris racing the section..

8)Twilight drainer..

9)Like the evening light on this one..

10)The lineup at an aptly named spot..

11)Inside looking out..

12)Perfect left..

13)Probably got numerous diseases while sitting in the jungle waiting for this shot (different processing as well)..

14)Empty in dying light..

15)Like the atmosphere with this shot (again after sunset)..

16)De-saturated jungle..
