Hey Pingtang,

I was there on a 3ft cruddy day, but even on 3ft the waves are still very much forecful. Would not look bad ATM.

Yeah I was at Bendalong on the 27th of Dec, and nothing was happening which was a shame and then we all decided ( me and my cousins, my surfing cousins ) that it would be too dangerous with all the fires going on.

Bawely point is a nice spot, again on its day when there is swell.

Hey 4S

Bendelong is an excellent spot, and has many reef-breaks and beach-breaks on offer.I have had great surfs here. Its probrably one of the best coastal towns on the South Coast.

What part of Bendelong did you go to.There is a turn-off about a kilometre from the main township.Did you turn right to Manyana(where Green Island is situated,or just go straight ahead,to the main township. Also, what was the wind blowing that day-Green Island is off-shore in NEers, and Westerlys.SEers are onshore.

PT,

Well we headed to the main township and were looking across towards green Island from a lookout, NO SWELL mad The winds were very light Westerlies, almost variable actually but no swell.

I am sure that if there was swell it would have been a pearler of a morning. However I think I can savour the moments in my dreams!!! Maybe next time when I come up we should meet up and go for a surf.

OMG, I sat in that Maccas on the 28th at 9am in the morning, hey I was 300m away from you.

Wow... smile

Hows the tides are they beginning to recede a little allowing better surf to develop?

Ha,Ha...thats interesting to hear eek .Im just trying to think what I did that day,as I go to maccas quite often, since I live so close laugh .At 9:00AM I was probrably in bed,or playing my new playstaion 2.I can eat all the maccas I want, and not gain weight.I guess surfing, and sk8-boarding keeps me fit.

The tides are a bit lower in the mornings now,but the swell has now faded, and it is 1-2FT.

I surf at Kiama a bit.It is alright for surfing, but there are other better spots.Bombo beach however, picks up alot more swell than surrounding beaches. It can be a metre at Bombo, but 1FT everywhere else. The Highway runs parallel to Bombo beach for a Kilometre, before swinging away from the coast a little.

I travelled through that region aswell on the 31st of DEC, but as you remember the smoke haze was appalling, I could not breathe properly so I had to see it from the car. It was not a bad day 3ft at best, but far too busy.

Going Back to Bawley point, is that the break off the rocks? I am getting confused.

Bawley point is a township, with many different breaks. Its a small town, much the same as Bendelong. There are about 5 different good breaks at Bawley point.

There is one spot there, that is an absolutely awsome wave. Its call Gullitines. It breaks along a point, but the take-off is only 5 metres from dry rock. You cant catch the wave, from the shoulder. You have to take off full on in the barrel,in front rocks. The wave only breaks over 2 metres.

Yep seen it OK, Gullitines, yeah it was really small that day but you could see the force in the wave, looks to be a mad drop.

Have you ever surfed down in VIC?

Hey guys I have some photos of Guillotines from a day or two after last years BIG swell, I will try and post them in the next week.
Also was planning to go surfing tomorrow on my day off, but it is looking like there is nothing off the east coast of NSW that will produce much more than a very small wind chop. Not happy!
Make the most of your Victorian swell 4 seasons, looks like the first connsecutive offshore days for you in a long time. Enjoy!

I know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am off Wilsons Promontory tomorrow to have a look down there. With the winds light early it will be a 3am start, but it will pay off. I have been looking at Surfshop Weather Reports

They are showing nice 4-7ft waves throughout the central and eastern coasts, and with a light offshore NE/E winds early should make for ideal conditions.

Johnny I can't wait to see a photo of Guillitines going off, I was there when it was dead so it will be interesting to see how it looks on its day.

Cheers

Have you read Mark Warrens surfing Atlas. It has information, about all of the surf spots in Australia. It has great pictures too, including ones of Aussie Pipe, and the break that you surf at,express point.

I have never surfed in Victoria before.I went down there in 1996,and im not sure why I didnt take a board down there.I saw Bells-Beach at about 4-5FT.It looked really good.I also went down the Great-Ocean Road,to a place called port cambell. The swell was fairly big that day(3-4metres),but I guess you can class that average for Victoria.I will have to go to Victoria again in the next few years,to do alot of surfing.I would probrably go in March, when the Formula one GP at Albert Park is on.

Yeah i have seen it in the Surfing shops down here, I think I might pick it up and have a read, my brother in law has a copy aswell, might just steal his.. smile

Port Campbell is very well know for its 4m winter swells, can get very rough over the west coast, evidence of that is the rock faces and how quickly the 12 Apostles are becoming 11, then 10 ect.

So you saw Bells...its a great spot through winter, though you have to be there eary before the swell gets wind chopped. I was there in August 2001, not bad some sets were about 5ft, some were hollowing out fairly well.

Never been the east coast then? Never on Phillip Island? Well next time you come down go and have a look, hopefully you will see some great surf. Wilsons Prom is also a nice spot but more for the spring and summer months, like now, with the strange postioning of the low pressure systems draggin up big swell over the last few weeks we are looking at a great weekend with Easterly winds and more NE winds on Sunday.

Can't wait.

Yeah,I did go to Wilsons promitory, and Phillip Island. When I went there,it was blowing stronger than a gale.Probrably, approaching 100km/h from the south. There wouldent of been much good surf, with that wind.I also went up to Queensland in 98',and I saw Kirra absolutly going off, with only 10 guys out.Unfortunatly I wasnt up there for a surfing trip.I was up there for a school excursion. mad It was September, and the temp was 28degrees. smile

You are very lucky to see Kirra go off, how big was it?

Anyway today was a little dissapointing. The swell was very lumpy at Squeaky Beach. The swell was there early, but I was not going to take the risk of going in to be taken by a shark. There was a nice offshore NE, which got fresh at times towards dawn then dropped off to less than 5 knots and turned more variable in Direction.
Not a bad day afterall

How was everyones day, anygood surf around the rest of NSW and VIC?

Not a bad day down here early on today, Phillip Island and the Penisula were the places to be, with a very light offshore NE'ly and 5ft urf, not a bad morning.

How is fairing elsewhere?
