Well Gold Coast sounds nice, wonder what Noosa would be like......I love Noosa!!!!!

Anyway, the waves were brilliant on the coast, 4ft clean with variable winds chiefly offshore variables.

I was at home, watching the storms, may aswell take them now since there here, we could go through another storm drought smile

By the way PT, were the desperados out in force? laugh :p

I checked the surf today, and there were a few people out.We actually have a really detailed surf-report around here. You get it by phone, and it updates at 7AM,and 4PM everyday.Usually I just listen to it,to get a general idea of the surf.Since I live 20kilometres from the coast,I cant check the surf everyday.

How far do you have to travel to get to the surf.I heard that you live in Melbourne,so Phillip Island must be a decent trip away.

Yeah its about a 90 minute drive to Phillip Island and the weather conditions can be oppostie to where I live, but I know people down there and I just ring them an ask for the surf conditions. They have a lookout over Woolamai, from there 3rd story, glad I have those connections down in Phillip Island eh!!!

To the west coast it can be sometimes 3 hours, dependant upon traffic, ie West Coast meaning Bells.

To Wilsons Prom its around 150 minutes, and to the Mornington Peisula its about 45 minutes.

Ulladulla is around 12 hours, but its all in a days work!!!! laugh

I had a 10 minute drive to shoalhaven heads today to check out the surf.Unfortunatly I slept in,and I checked it at 9:00AM.There was already a 5-10knot ENE wind, which is directly onshore. There was swell, but it was sloppy. Not worth going out thats for sure.

Oh well not to worry. My new concentration on today, will be thunderstorms. Its looking good thats for sure, with the western horizon, filled up with cumulus towers.

Some sloppy surf eh? Ah the storms will make up fo it, it was pretty amazing here, the shortwave is haeding NE so it should be there soon.

Not a bad day to surf, winds are still variable, again generally offshore.

4ft is the maximum height again.

Some mean waves around SA today! Even the gulf has 3ft waves, but most are messy. The south Coast(Victor) has some large messy waves too, around 6ft blown around by a blustery 30knot SW wind.

I'll be staying away from the water until next week then ill head down for a fishing /surfing trip! cool

Hey Lennie,

The Gulf at 3ft, now thats huge eek from mm-ft in a day, thats amazing.

Might be some good follow through for next week as things calm down and winds lighten, you could have some idea surf

This next cold front should pump up the Southerly swell and produce nice conditions down here for next week with E/NE winds developing as a trough nears.

Sort of becoming monotonous, but I am not complaining. Good surf and good strms, the best of both worlds smile

The surf might of been OK this afternoon. The severe thunderstorm that we got would have changed the wind direction for sure.

Tomorrow, the wind is forcast to shift to the south,at about 30-40knots.This should bring the swell up to 2-3metres,but it will be quite messy.

Make that 45-50knots on the coast.A decent southerly change is coming.

Wowsers eek eek

Battern Down the hatches. Looks like a terrible weekend for surfing up your way and extending right back to here in VIC, looks like a messy SE winds up to 35 knots on the coast should become general.

Its always the case, when storms are aroud the swell picks up or cleans itself up. Very frustrating.

Whats the surf like today, slightly wind chopped?

I slept in today,so I havent been for a surf.I heard the surf report, and it said up to a metre, with off-shore winds.I have just checked the 1:00PM observations, and it says there are offshore Westerlys at most places. The wind however, has changed more side-shore at Ulladulla, and places such as Narooma, are recording 60-70km/h winds.
So the surf was very clean today, but I think it will be different story by the end of today, and tomorrow.Gale-force winds are still predited, and the seas are expected to rise to 7metres,with a 2-3metre swell.

Well a 2-3m swell with this low pressure region will ensure some nice surf next week as winds again lighten.

Down here today, blustery S winds, are making things to messy and disorginised. Hopefully things will clean up through the week as temps get into the mid 30s and winds turn NE.

The wind didnt really come up today. It didnt even get over 20km/h at my place. The swell hasnt come up from the south either.

Oh well,I cant complain. With all of the rain weve been having, trees would fall over easier in a strong wind.I am suprised that I havent seen any trees down from the storm we had yesterday.People are actually reporting a possible tornado.

Anyway,It doesent look that great in the near future swell-wise.It may rise, from a low and in the tasman sea,but this will be accompianed by onshore winds.

Really the opposite here with a blaS of cold air, and an upper low developing we should see swell increase markedly to around 4-7ft,

However next week the swell might die down, but the winds will be turning around from this ridiculous S which is pure ice.

A serious swell from the south is on the cards for Tuesday and onwards.Could be 3-4metres.Offshore SW winds are also being forcast,so its looking good.

I will have to go for a surf.I cant pass up a 3-4metre swell. The coastal waters forcast is expecting winds of 45-55knots offshore tomorrow, and they are expected to decrease by Tuesday.Swell is predicted to rise to 3-4metres.

Mid week, early morning surfing will be ideal, hmmmmm sounds really good indeed.

Here we have a greater swell than what was forecast, Phillip Island is around 8ft with gale force S winds, east coast around gippsland is up over 10ft. but its extremley messy.
