Headed down to south port yesterday morning and it was about 1' with some maybe pushing 2' but it flattened out alot about 12 so we headed down to middleton. It was about 4' and very messy but it bought up my confidence in dicey conditions and the paddle out was good excercise. You basically had to wait until the shifty peaks peaked right on top of you and then paddle into some great massive faces and big walls!

Lots of fun except at one point I think I was sucked out and I looked back towards the point and it was a very very long distance away and the waves were crashing a good 150 to 200m in from where i was so yeah but it was still a pretty awesome surf laugh

Im not saying it was fun, its just thats its the first time iv'e been in sloppy surf over 2ft so it was fun, and went down today and it was about 2-3' at Day st with glassy conditions early morning and the offshores kicked in at around 11.00 but it was still good up until I left at about 2.30 and the wind was shifting a little more westerly.

South Coast surf report from "surfsouthoz" for Friday....
"Conditions are pretty awful on the South Coast this morning, with onshore SSW winds gusting over 20 knots. Middleton is around 4', with 4'+ slops along the Day St. - Goolwa stretch. Chiton / Gap are around 3', everywhere the otehr side of Victor is pretty much out of control. It's not gonna get any better today, or tomorrow, with onshores settling in for the weekend. Inside Dribs Bay or off the Point, or a grovel at The Dump is about your best bet... or you could just forget it. Shred factor - 3/10."

This is yesterday's forcast:

This morning is the first day of offshore conditions on the South Coast in a while, and worth making the most of. Winds are from the North at around 5 knots and conditioins are glassy - with just a bit of leftover lumpiness in the swell. Middleton is around 2 - 3', with 3' waves along the Day St. - Goolwa stretch. Chiton / Gap are around 1 - 2', with Waits and Parson's around 4' for more experienced surfers. Hopefully the bank situation at Waits has improved, as it's been a bit sad over the last week and a half. Northerlies are forecast to pick up today, possibly gusting to around 20 knots by mid-morning. A gusty onshore SW change is expected sometime around the middle of the day, and conditions will deteriorate quickly once it hits. Get in early, or be prepared for a weekend of dismal, sloppy surf. Shred factor - 7/10, deteriorating.

You posted today's(Saturday's) forcast.

Probably an error due to cloud contamination in the satellite scans.

The surf is BIG this afternoon! The 5pm local surf report said double to triple overhead, with S/SW winds . The winds have now swung to the west/northwest,so its probrably going off right now!The winds are howling down the coast, montague island recorded a 61kt gust at one stage. Tomorrow morning could be fun, depending on the wind direction. I would still expect solid sets at first, maybe to 8'(sth facing magnets),but it should drop abit during the day.I may head out in the arvo,as I knock off from work at 2:30pm. smile

G'day Karl

I haven't done much surfing lately. Its been quite ordinary most of the time, with low period windswells and bad winds. We got a good swell a few weeks ago, but I was stuck at work unfortunately. The rest of this week looks small but not flat.Im hoping for a wave this weekend with a westerly change predicted laugh
