I am not planning to make a trip over to South-Australia or Western Australia.I want to go over there, but I dont really have enough money.I will probrably go surfing up on the North Coast of NSW some-time this year, but that will be the furthest I go.

The surf is up to 2FT over here from the East. The Gold Coast is already up to 4-6FT,and Coffs harbour is up to 3-4FT.It should start to pick up some-time toaday,or early tomorrow, down here. The onshore winds are a little worrying though. They are forcasted to be E/SE,which is directly onshore for nearly everywhere. This onshore airflow has brought in some nice rain though. We got 10-15millimetres last night, and another 5 millimetres today.Atleast it wont be flat on the weekend anyway. laugh

Sounds like a nice day to be indoors, however with that low out in the coral sea, the sets would have been classics earlier in the week, but as it does come closer it will become messy and disorginised.

Surf today, well I am checking soon, my family is heading down for the weekend, but I am staying here due to storm action.

Not bad though, stiull hovering just on 3-4ft and no wind, so it was a good morning down anywhere along the coast.

I will definatly go for a surf check tomorrow morning at 5AM.Im not so sure,if it will be any good or not with onshores predicted, but the winds should be pretty light anyway. It picked up to 1 metre today from the North. It looks set to pick up even more.Could be good, could be OK,could be junky.I dont know what it will be like.

I had a very good surf early today.I went out,to a really fun point-break,which breaks only once or twice a month. The wave isnt hollow or anything, but it has a nice wall, and wraps down a point for about 100metres.When you finish your ride, you end up at the beach. From there, you have a 100metre walk back to the line-up.

Today,it was up to Head-high,glassy,and there wasnt a soul out for the whole time.I was in the water by myself for 5 hours picking off these nice waves in 23degree water, and under sunny skys. The predicted onshores didnt come up until 10:00AM.I could still surf however, because this break is sheltered in Easterly winds.

It was certainly one of my better surfs this summer.

Oh thats good to hear PT,

We had a sensational day down at Phillip Island, down at Angelenas, perfect 5ft, light winds early, warm...not bad at all. This wave is rather quick, can be rough when not clean, but today was the best I have seen it.

Good day everywhere.

Surf is good in SA Pt, and I recommend taking a trip to our South coast or the Fleirieu Peninsula. Breaks like Middleton are good with a 4ft lefty. Take off is a helluva way out the back for the bigger sets - about 300m from shore but the ride in is bloody worth it. Some locals prefer to take off at The Point where a rocky platform juts out halfway out into the surf but it can be tricky for non locals. I just find a rip and ride it out.

Watpinga and Parson's are by far the best for BIG waves, with waves in excess of 12ft on a day of strong SW winds and intense lows to the south. Works well in strong SW to S and needs a strong wind to really get it going otherwise its mostly a messy 5ft break with a seabed like a labrinth - one of the most dangerous beaches in the country. I dont go there - its beyond my level. Out of the wo Waits is bigger and better but harder to negotiate and is more exposed unlike parsons which is a small bay.

Blackfellas is good out wets too and Cactus is paradise.

More later as i have to rush off. Hope to get some down at Chiton Rocks b4 uni.

Hi 4S

There is a solid NE swell today. It picked up overnight, and it is now approaching Double Head on the sets.I checked the surf today, but it was no good.A moderate to fresh onshore wind, basically turned the conditions into mush.Tomorrow is looking good, with a forcast SW-SE change to come through. The southern corners will be going off,as there will be heaps of swell getting into them.We could get storms tomorrow as well.

Todays conditions were pretty dangerous, with lots of currents, and big clean-up sets. That still didnt stop a crowd of about 20 entering the water.

Big sets are rolling in on NSW/QLD coasts ATM, and the surf carnival at Coolum might be moved. Im watching it on TV today, to see how big these waves are. Reports that Coolum was 3.5m yesterday eek

Very deep low in Coral sea is responsible for this. Beaches are very dangerous with rips pulling many swimmers out to sea. Its too dangerous for swimming for gods sake.

Hey PT, Lennie,

Its also too dangerous for jet skiers with one person ending up on the rocks......GO FIGURE that mentality?

Sounds like another rough day, but things will be great later in the week as seas dies and winds turn lighter offshore westerly.

How is the surf in SA Lennie? Hows it been this summer overall?

Today the surf has increased to 3ft with winds grading from strong over the west coast to moderate over the east coast. Not too bad for the Public Holiday.

Looking like Friday/Saturday are going to be the good days to surf, it only depends on the swell, with crosshore/offshore winds dominating the last week, there is good chance things are going to be too small.

Hi 4 Seasons

There is still plently of swell about.Yesterday I got 2 surfs in,and stayed in until about 8PM.The swell yesterday was about 2 metres.Today its dropped a little, but it is easily Head High. The swell is expected to hang around in the 2 metre range right until the week-end.

We have already had solid overhead swell since last week-end.The low near New Caladonia is expected to move South-West,so there should be a few more good days yet.

I will be going out again today, and this will be 7th surf since Saturday. Its about time we get a good summer swell.

Now Now PT,

No need to gloat over how many times you have gone surfing this week, I am not liking this, wish I was as closer to the water as you. Still looking good for Friday now, a change early on Saturday should make things messy through the weekend, before improving next week as winds turn again more humid NE. Why could I not see surf when I was up in NSW for a week smile

Is it a clean 2m or a messy rough 2m? And out to 8pm, thats when the sharks come in, my oh my, that is dedication.

I like gloating :p

Its just that,im having my best surfs since last winter. It has been pathetic up here lately,so it is good to get a nice swell. This swell is very clean, but the winds havent been favourable all of the time.

My last good surf, apart from this week, was at the end of last year while you were up here.It was 2 metres for a couple of days-I dont know why you didnt see much swell.I guess, every time I go to Batemans-Bay,the swell is usally half the size of places up the coast near Ulladulla.

I have been known to do 3 hour bush-walks to get a surf in.I have also surfed to 8:40PM before.I suppose, you could call me a little dedicated.

So,how often do you get decent swell in Victoria.

PT :p

Its good to gloat, its healthy!
Mollymook must be going off as are probably all the points around Ulladulla. I can see it now frown smile

Victoria does get good swell, but usually when we get swell, the first few days are messy and very fat, mainly caused strong southerly winds. When lighter winds come the waves clean up and are fairly surfable for about 2 days, but swells here have been really consistant 7ft at times with offshore NW winds, so I am not complaining.

We get pretty good swell, once at the worst every 2 weeks.
