Wow lucky you PT smile

Some nice surf spots around the South Coast when they are working, and they sound like they are smile

SA and VIC can look forward to a small low developing off the coast somwhere b/w Wilsons Prom-The West Coast of Tas or the Mt Gambier region.

Eyes will be on the lookout for that little system

Hopefully my luck will continue,as im leaving at 5:30AM tomorrow morning to go surfing yet again.I am heading up to Shellharbour, hoping for a wave at Red-sands.A 2.5-3 metre swell is being predicted,so hopefully there will be a wave around.

Could be cold getting up.Nowra is facing its coldest minimum ever tonight. The BOM are going for 2C,and the lowest minimum ever is -1.2C
However,at 8:30PM its already dropped to 2.8C,and the temp should drop even more.Im expecting it to be white again in the morning smile Ive heard that Victoria,is getting heavy frosts.

Anyway,I hope you get some good waves down your way, with this new little system coming across.

I did indeed have fun. There was a nice 2metre+ ESE swell with offshore winds in the morning.

I had 2 surfs(one at Shellharbour, and the other at Gerringong later on). Both of them were great. Most of the time it was completely uncrowded. However,at the end of one surf,14 guys paddled in at once,so it went from no-one out to a pack in a matter of minutes.I got out of water, pretty much immediatly after this happened.

It was a really fun day,and a really fun weekend for that matter. smile I will be now looking at the charts, for next weekend.

So hows it looking for swell in Victoria?

Still fairly sizeable and nothing to complain about here. We have been lucky.

Looks like the swell might jack up a bit with the approach of a low pressure system mid week and hold some pretty alright surf until the weekend, 4ft possibly 5-6ft at times.

The swell dropped of dramically here today, and it should condinue the down-ward trend.Half a metre today, will probrably be 1FT tomorrow. So far the weekend, looks small here.

So its looking OK,down your way.:)Can you get out there some time during the week,or do you have to work all week.

Well I am going down on Saturday weather pending ofcourse.

I am probably going to head to Wilson's Prom or Phillip Island at this stage. With an early NWly it may be the places to be.

I am at school everyday of the week and work 3 nights a week, run a youth group and am currently in a stage musical so I am kinda busy, but I cant wait to get out there.

Yeah,it sounds like your a little busy. smile Im busy during most of the week too-when the weekend comes though,I just CLOCK up the surfing.

Hope you get a wave on the weekend. The weekend here,is a little tough to predict.I imagine it will be on the small side like it is at the moment. smile Could be something around though.

Hope you can obtain some swell because the winds looks to be generally offshore this weekend. Could be a fun wave or two around.

Yeah,NW winds are predicted for the weekend here,so any wave over a metre will be a good one.
Its about a metre here today, and it sounded fun but I had to work. The Gold-Coast though looked really fun at 4FT with offshore winds.Burleigh heads, and all of the other points up there were going off today.

Lucky for them, I hate getting into wetsuits down here. They have the luxury of perfect surf and perfect water temps.

NW winds are good. If you get a metre plus your laughing smile

The water temps off the Gold Coast in winter are about 20C.The current water temperature here is about 16C,but it is 12-13C in Jervis Bay.How cold are the water temperatures down in Victoria?

I think they were around 11C in the open ocean and about 12-14C in areas around the bay. I am not quite sure though smile

Its fairly freezing.

Well,18-20C is pretty cold for December.Usually its 22C,by that time. The brisk westerlys must have effected the water temps. The water temps around here can get up to 24C at times, and up to 26C off the coast. It gets even warmer up on the Gold Coast. No wonder,it gets crowded in summer.

So what are the average w.temps in summer down in Victoria.

Around 15-19C during the summer, depending on the westerlies and frontal systems.

Last year was a slightly colder temp with many fronts driving cooler water from the antartic.

Well,im a little suprised that the swell has lingered around at 1metre+ for the last few days.

Unfortunatly,I cant see this weekend having much swell here.It will be very small, even though the winds will be favourable.I guess you cant have good waves every weekend. smile

Looking veeeeerry nice for next week for all of SA and VIC...dunno bout NSW it may get there once the low migrates near NZ if it makes it that far. Havent been out for a while due to uni and stuff so no real idea what going on out there..could be something ok generated from that low near VIC ATM, but it wont compare to the amount of swell coming from that next low South of WA..Margret River will be paradise apart from 60knot SW eek ..mayeb after the worst of the wind has gone thru soem serious clean lines will be coming thru, and extending right up the WA coastline even to Indo so ive read about in that other thread. Mid coast should get soemthing nice out of this, so should the south coast. BRING IT ON!!!!!!!!

TS cool
