Could very well be the case indeed. Already we "look" like the lower mid north to my eye. Well the farmland does with normally year round green stubbed perennial pastures fried to death or left with tiny stubs of yellow. The scrub looks mostly the same if not a little hot and bothered.

Tomorrow is indeed a worry as Johnoo says. But am looking forward to sunday and the cool like a, well had a metaphor but decided here was not the place to use it! ROFL ROFL ROFL

Reckon I'll adapt instantly TH. If I feel cold (unlikely) can always pop some clothes on, doesn't work so easy the other way around. wink

oh crap, there goes the fire siren, full arc
rainbow in that virga that just passed over, these
cells are more than capable of extruding the odd
clandestine CG. damn, just started the weber, could
be on bomber shift but there ain't much daylight
left and at least there is bugger all wind atm.

right, i'm gunna keep calling you PM just to
throw the cat amongst the pigeons and cause even
more confusion. :p
anyway hillsrain is an oxymoron now, should be
hillsnorain.

anyway, have you had a look outside, there is
every variaty of Ac in the sky you can poke a
stick at, lenticular, mackeral, castle, styrated,
and some others i don't know what they're
called. i might head out the road and grab a
possie for pics, it's ginna be a killer sunset
tonight.

LOL TH, maybe hillsdrought? wink

Dunno mate, my sky is not awe inspiring really. A bit of AC, but flat and lifeless. Was some very cool lenticular early in the day, but was busy working and wanted to finish work more than snap pics. LOL
anyhoo mate, if you keep getting this little driblle of action you have been getting, even sunsets, then you position as club leader may be in threat!! he he he

Its still an incredible 35 degrees here. I don't think I can remember such heat here at this time of the night. Horrible really.

hhmm maybe a strike Aaron, not impossible. Good firestarters in such conditions lightning is. We can do without it.

the situation is starting to destabilise nicely,
some strikes near coomandook at 1:15am, some near
robe at 1:30am a small cluster near hamilton at
around 2:00am and now it's going off between robe
and millicent and toward mt gambier.
with the front pushing hard against the northwest
infeed as it approaches the coast it will be
interesting to see if my forcefield can stand up
to it and not break down.
wakey wakey RS, your missing out on a nice
lightshow to your south.
big cell brewing off the coorong now, if it fires
it will be time for a dawn chase.

edit: bugger it, amomalous propogation.

I seen only sheet lightning this morning TH but i've got a good feeling we'll see some CG's this morning or early arvo

But yeah i noticed its feeding off the NW infeed and looks quite strong on the lightning tracker plus my scanner has jumped into life eek with a fire just on the border in an Auspine plantation

u missed a great light show RS, after my last
post i went down your way, the underbelly strikes
and CGs were awsome they ended up pretty much
right over you or very close, i stopped just
north of penola otherwise i would have been too
close for photographing.
you couldn't have seen JUST 'sheet' lightning,
there were huuuuge CC underbelly bolts flying all
over the place and, comparativly speaking, very
little 'sheet' lightning amongst it, CGs were also
sparse but well catered for. all the bolts were
high and dry and i could see them as soon as i
started driving from naracoorte.
don't complain anymore that you not gettin' any
storms 'cos you got an absolute ripper this
morning. your butt should be raw and sore 'cos u
got a good spanking while you were fast asleep, i
cant believe you missed it,
and i wouldnt be looking too hard for storms
today, daytime heating is going to screw up the
lapse rates big time, models show nothing but
heat, cloud and wind then a wind swing soon after
lunchtime and a rapid cooling to follow around
mid to late arvo, sooner for you, a tad later for me.

Now I know that this chart can be VERY untrustworthy, but the 8-14 day rainfall map has predicted the Adelaide region should recieve 15-30mm next week. I wonder if this prediction is going to turn out correct, or whether they are just teasing us again :p

Looks like you had some nice storms down there this morning TH and RS, any rain out of it or was it all just dry lightning??

hi deno, RS slept through it.

like i said the cells were virga infested, and i
saw none hitting the ground from where i was
which was under basically clear skies, however,
going by radar intensity of the cells in some
places would indicate to me, being familiar with
the mount radar, that rain did hit the ground in
places but would have been bearly measurable, or
at very best tha spurious odd mm here and there.
i, in naracoorte had 3 or 4 light, heavy droplet
unmeasurable showers in the early evening from
sundown on.
all storms were confined to sw of a line between
robe-penola-portland.
that includes kalangadoo and definatley not
naracoorte.
take all forecast models more than a week out
with a grain fo salt, every now and then they are
right but more often they are not.
mesoscale synoptic scenarios are reasonably
accurate but dont touch rainfall amounts with a
10 foot barge pole.

Damn, our family were meant to be down at my aunty's farm this week, which is about 10km from Kalangadoo, so we would have been right near the storms!! Ended up not going though because we desperately need to get a wriggle on with our packing, considering our moving day is only a week away now.

i thought it was all down hill from here but after
reaching a low of 30.5 at 3:00pm cdst the
temperature has climbed back up to 34.2 at 3:37pm
cdst. with a sw wind.
also note with interest a line storms firing
between lameroo and keith on the vic border,
and they are moving indian file at bullet train
speed to the se, conditions are absolutley filthy
outside, visibility is crap and and fires will only
be seen from close up.

Yes it is pretty filthy outside the temp has
gone back up to 28.9 in Mount Gambier after the wind swung around to SW but what would make it even more interesting is having a storm later on

wink

I did notice the lightning this morning teckert but decided to stay home incase the pager went off for a fire call instead of being halfway through a chase and having to fly back into town just to respond

Nah no complaints from me for now just staying quiet until the next round of storms which could hopefully be in the next couple of weeks

moving SE from where i said means they are making
a beeline for hamilton and cape otway.
the frontal line could fire but if models are
correct it won't.
i'd say u had your shot this morning and no more
for you or me.
watch the frontal line after sundown.
