Yeah I did end up going to knights sunday, was pretty solid but a bit shifty and rippy with wash through sets. There was no wind but it was still a little choppy. Uncrowded and around 4-6ft.

I got some good bazzas but I was being too selective and let a lot of quality sets go through. Gotta recover my form, as I've been out for a few weeks! This weekend looks alright, winds are favorable.

I'm sure there'd be plenty of places you can scope out sa. Seems there's plenty of protected spots all over that coast.

i headed out to southport on sunday and i would have to admit it was one of the best qualities i had ever seen it. it was in hte 2' rand and there were a frames all over the beach with some nice little end bowls.. it was even slightly barreling in some sections. good fun. i spent about 4 hours out in the water and it was glassy as!! quality session. got busier as the arvo went on, but it started out with me and my mates having out own little area.

Percy, that wave they had the comp on was the Dump.

There hasn't been much happening over here of late, and it doesn't look like the rest of the country is seeing much either.

Had planned to suss out a wave i surfed last big swell on the weekend but my car overheated so no sirf for me frown

T'was massive though and here's a pic of Manly on Saturday morning..

is that wave called the dump? haha.. slightly embarressed. i always thought the dump was to the left of chiton - like just to the left..

i went down to knights today and got kitted up and walked down to the water - though it was alright because there was no wind and no one out. Woot. lol. but osme kids came down and informed me they'd just had an encounter with a shark out there for the second time today. They said it was a bronzey and was bigger than this guy, so over 5' so i decided against going out... haha. oh well. not worth it imo. if it was epic. i may have gone out anyway. but yea. :p

Wow a shark at knights, never thought i'd see the day. Might be in the back of my mind next time I'm out by myself at dusk.

I went out at Parsons on saturday and got some glassy 2-3fters, so that was my fill. Was pretty peaky and fun.

And yeah I'm not really clear where the dump is either, I think I've got a pretty good idea though. To the left of Chiton is Railways if I'm correct? I guess I never needed to know when I was just on the lid, next time theres a solid swell I'll just look for the crowds...

and if it drops out too much as the day goes on i will probably join the other half of the surfing fraternity at parsons. ha ha. it will be packed. but hopefully the rain keeps a few away

I remember there was a photo a few years ago of a guy out at knights with a small shark just next to him in the wave face.

Oh and Percy I would recommend giving Knights a miss as it will only be small around 1-2ft. Head straight to Waits or Parsons early and get some fun clean waves before the crowd gets there and the wind come up wink

The long weekend is looking pretty average over here, tiny waves with increasing offshore winds. Had a fun surf at Queencliff yesterday, fun left wedges that were so rippable and really consistent.

Hopefully we see a bit more swell next week!

Hey SAsurfa!

Just answering your question from the Winter 2009 thread. smile

The surf was small yesterday evening so it wasn't worth bothering about, but it built noticeably in the half hour that I was there from the south. Unfortunately I couldn't surf this morning because of work. Its tempting to have a look this afternoon but the wind is showing signs of turning cross shore. I'd like to surf this weekend, but its not looking good. The swell will quickly fade on Saturday into the 2-3ft range. The wind will be handy though(NW) meaning the exposed locations that like south swell will be offshore.

Welcome Aussie Pride, really like the last one, if only it were a little more to the right!

And Pingtang, i'm heading down the coast tomorrow, probably go the a south swell magnet just south of Shell Harbor, or maybe Bendy. Should be fun before the swell drops out smile

Looks fun aussie pride

I hit up waits last saturday and got some 2ft glass with a ridiculous high tide

Will probably only be able to surf tomorrow morning, nothing special down here though.

Saw your article in swellnet SA srufa, exciting stuff. I probably won't be able to bolt down and get a splash in due to work, but I'll try!

Cheers Stokie, pretty interesting stuff! And i had a fun session at a place called the Farm on Saturday, 3-4ft rights which were a bit fat on the smaller sets but great fun walls on the 3-4ft sets!

The mid was firing yesterday. I hit Seaford reef in the arvo for glassy 3ft walls. Wasn't too crowded either. Such a fun, long and easy wave to ride. Definately one of my better surfs of late, looks like its on again today, but it's the office for me today!

water temperature 16 degrees here, I used to think westcoast was colder than the south coast(victor) and I know a lot of people who think the same, haha, good let them think it, I have been re-assured by my employer at the oysters, it rarely gets below 16 here, when I have been in water at knights and its 12deg. Leeuwin Current hugs the continent all the way to Tassy, but misses the Gulfs and Encounter Bay

Nice shots, very fun looking indeed.

Fair bit better than I've been getting down here recently, Parsons was ok on saturday at about 2ft.

We are getting hammered over here weather and wind wise, wouldn't mind hitting up a few protected spots, of course work isn't really permitting. Maybe I could have a splash before work tomorrow at Henly, be bloody cold though.
