Just wondering if anyone would like to hazard a guess as to why the Double Island Point wind readings for today dramatically swung around to the NNW at 11:24am this morning and remained that way for the rest of the day, whilst all other weather stations north and south of Double Island Point showed nothing like that with the winds remaining out of the southern quadrant.

It's rather confusing to me, given the fairly decent ridge up the east coast of Qld at the moment, pushing moderate to fresh SE winds.

Looks like a broken anemometer to me Don - happens from time to time.

Thanks Ben. I thought that may have been the case, but just thought I'd put the question out there to the weather gurus in case there was some rather odd weather phenomenon explaining it.

Although if this was the case (weather phenomenon) then it would be a rather very localised one as the Rainbow Beach station was still indicating winds from the southern quadrant all day today.

BTW Ben....got any super long range predictions for Bells this year mate?

I'll be on site at Bells - but right now it's far too early! Present indications are pretty good though, the Southern Ocean has been nice and active of late.
