I have linked the mobile phone via WAP to link the Weatherzone so I can get radar images on mobile phone while I go on holidays. Can anyone tell me the cost when downloading the radar images on mobile phone screen, is it the same cost when making a call to another mobile or is it charged at a higher rate? confused

You are normally charged per kb ... my service is 2.2c / kb (which is exy!) therefore the BOM radar- which weighs in at ~28kb = 62c not including overheads. The WZ one eg eg. here is 44.5kb = $0.98

This is why I made a tiny little page so I could cherck the weather at Hotham, while sitting on a chairlift- only costs me about 10c to access it. http://www.trapdoor.com.au/wap-weather.php

When you say not including overheads what do you mean?

You are better off using sites that are designed for mobile phones as the images are much lighter and therefore cheaper.
Weatherzone is available at
http://wap.wz.com.au
or
http://telstra.wz.com.au

Yep much better off ... Thanks for that MH! I just browsed the Melb Forecast, sat image and radar for just 38kb = ~83c using wap.wz.com.au smile Straight into the phone's bookmarks!

Thanks for your advice guys. Going away tomorrow down the coast and there is storms everyday just about, never experience storms in the Jayco wind-up caravan should be interesting, my wife is concerned that on a bad storm especially with high winds she thinks the caravan might roll over.
Thats why I wanted the WAP to be sorted out, not taking the computer with me.
