.......9..85F/29.4C..53F/11.6C..---

For the week of Sep. 3-9: Mena's Avg. Max.: 85.1F/29.5C; Avg. Min.: 62.2F/16.7C

This completely dry late Summer week featured some good warmth, but also some cooler-feeling days (& mornings) as well. A--dry in my area--Canadian cold front passed through on the 5th. That cold front really lowered the humidity levels and made for some good daily temperature spreads. These cooler readings made it hard to believe that we still have nearly 2 weeks left of Summer. IMO, it seems the seasons here this year are about around a month or so ahead of schedule.
The minimum on the 8th was only 1F above the Record Low Maximum for the Date.
Overall Low--around 11:35PM--listed for the 5th.
Forecast for upcoming week calls for very poor rainchances & the tops getting warmer as the week progresses (possibly 90F+/32.2C+).
Still unsure if the steering winds will push the remnants of ex-Hurricane Irma in my direction (to the West).

For the week of Sep. 10-16: Mena's Avg. Max.: 83.1F/28.3C; Avg. Min.: 60.2F/15.6C

This last full week of Summer--Autumn/Fall officially arrives here in the NH on the 22nd--featured fairly variable temperatures and continued dry conditions (as of today--the 18th--I've recorded no measureable rain here this month & none for 26 straight days). Needless to say, the area lawns are looking quite parched & fairly brown-colored in places.
The upper steering winds blew the remnants of ex-Hurricane/Tropical Storm/Tropical Depression Irma over my area on the 12th. Very light rain just missed me, the more widespread & heavier rain was to my E & SE. The thicker cloudcover and cool NE winds made it a very chilly late-Summer day (never thought I'd have to wear a heavy long-sleeved shirt in late-Summer!).
I like to keep up with the 1st time I see this (as per the US Daily Weather Feature map): On the 14th, there was an area of expected Rain/Snow mix in the US & Canada Rocky Mountains. On the 15th, there was a rather small area of expected Snow in the southwestern mountains of Montana (I guess it's getting to be that time of year). Our decreasing daylight is very noticeable: currently, sunset here is at 7:20PM.
Forecast for upcoming week calls for more Summerlike warmth (tops of 90F+/32.2C+) and humid minimums with the best rainchances (30%) for Thursday & Saturday.

For the week of Sep. 17-23: Mena's Avg. Max.: 81.2F/27.3C; Avg. Min.: 58.2F/14.5C

A fairly warm week with continued dry conditions. Autumn/Fall officially arrived here in the NH on the 22nd. Some mornings started mostly-to-partly cloudy and giving way to mostly sunny conditions by the early PM hours. A couple days had day-long cumulus cloudcover, giving brief relief from the hot sunshine.
Forecast for the upcoming week calls for fairly good rainchances--and a bit of a cool-down--by mid-week. My area could really, really do with a nice raindump. I imagine we'll be in a Countywide Burn Ban before much longer.

For the week of Sep. 24-30: Mena's Avg. Max.: 79.2F/26.2C; Avg. Min.: 55.7F/13.1C

Well--HALLELUJAH! Very Thankful for the rainfall this past week; the--light & spotty--showers were due to a Stationary Front to our North early-week and from a Pacific Cold Front on the 27th. Felt very chilly (post-frontal) on the 28th, with day-long solid cloudcover & coolish NW/WNW breezes (so, Definitely feeling like Autumn/Fall; esp. with the cooler mornings and lower humidity values).
Otherwise, the days were mostly sunny & fairly pleasant; perfect for any outdoor activity.
Forecast for upcoming week calls for similar temperatures (highs of 80F+/26.6C+ and mornings of 60F+/15.5C+) with very good rainchances early-week and fair rainchances late in the weekend.

An Upper-Level Disturbance gave the very nice raindump mid-week. Felt very cool on the 3rd as the Maximum was at 12:01AM & around 4:30PM. Otherwise, the days were warm & pleasant with lower humidity values--typical early-Autumn/Fall weather. More trees around town are starting to shed their leaves, while other trees' leaves are starting to undergo the color-change.
Forecast for upcoming week calls for fair thundershower chances--and a cooler shot of air--for late Monday night into Tuesday--followed by mostly dry conditions and warmer temperatures.

For the week of Oct. 8-14: Mena's Avg. Max.: 75.0F/23.8C; Avg. Min.: 50.1F/10C

Another nice dump of rain--along with cooler conditions--as a Pacific cold front passed through on the 10th. The 10th felt especially cool as the temperatures slowly fell most of the day (Daytime High was only 65F/18.3C at the 7:18AM sunrise); skies mostly cleared by around 1PM, but with an accompanying chilly WNW breeze. A fairly rapid warm-up then ensued over the remainder of the week. Another Pacific cold front would hit us on Sunday the 15th and the pre-frontal warmth--aided by warm Southerly breezes--brought record-breaking heat to my area on the 13th & 14th (some locations in Arkansas were above 90F/32.2C+ for tops on those days). I'm enjoying the warmth while we have it; although the cooler mornings & pleasant afternoons seems to have put an end (however temporary) to the plethora of mosquitos in my area. The cooler weather & shorter daylight hours (sunset is currently near 6:40PM) have already started the color-change on some of the local trees' leaves.
Since the 12th, Polk County has been under a Countywide Burn Ban. Hopefully, we'll get a larger raindump this upcoming weekend; along with another shot of cooler air.

For the week of Oct. 15-21: Mena's Avg. Max.: 72.2F/22.3C; Avg. Min.: 47.5F/8.6C

A pleasant early-Autumn week with somewhat variable temperatures and a bit of rain early-week & late-week. A Pacific cold front brought the rain (the shower-line mostly fell apart upon reaching my area) on the 15th & the scant raintotal on the 21st was a thin & broken line of showers well ahead of another Pacific cold front (which hit us just before 2AM on Sunday the 22nd).
Overall High--12:01AM & Overall Low--around 11:15PM, listed for the 15th (Daytime Maximum was 69F/20.5C around 2:25PM)--a cooler-feeling day with dampness & slowly falling temperatures.
Forecast for upcoming week calls for nice warmth until just after mid-week and then another strong cold front & another fairly good cool-down--we could see minimums at freezing or below by next weekend.

.......27..66F/18.8C..38F/3.3C...---
.......28..50F/10C.....29F/-1.6C..---

For the week of Oct. 22-28: Mena's Avg. Max.: 69.4F/20.7C; Avg. Min.: 45.0F/7.2C

This week featured more variable temperatures, a nice raindump, chilly post-frontal WNW/NW winds and a taste of Wintertime.
A Pacific cold front passed through on the 22nd; a dry Canadian cold front quickly followed on the 23rd--this front gave lower humidities (20% & a bit lower) and some good daily temperature spreads. Another dry Pacific cold front passed through on the 27th.
The below-freezing minimum on the morning of the 29th was Mena's first freezing-or-below minimum since March 15th--which was still in late-Winter--so, 226 days between freezing minimums this year.
Overall High-12:01AM & Overall low-11:15PM-listed for the 22nd (as the temperatures fell all day); Overall Low-10:55PM-listed for the 24th; Overall High-12:01AM & Overall Low-11:25PM-listed for the 27th (as the temperatures slowly fell all day). On both the 22nd & 27th, chilly post-frontal WNW/NW winds & solid cloudcover added to the chilliness & dampness of those days.
The 24th saw several hours of fairly strong & gusty WNW winds (at Mena's Intermountain Municipal Airport [which reports every 20 minutes], there were around 8 hours of WNW winds sustained at 20+MPH/32.2+KPH, with gusts as high as 39MPH/62.8KPH). Such prolonged & strong & gusty winds are not that common for my area.
On the 22nd, as the Cold Front/Thundershower line rolled through my area, the temperature at Mena's Intermountain Municipal Airport fell from 73F/22.7C at 1:55AM to 61F/16.1C at 2:15AM.
Forecast for upcoming week calls for warmer conditions with fairly good shower chances, starting around mid-week. Hoping (& Praying) we can get a couple good raindumps.

........4..76F/24.4C...62F/16.6C..---

For the week of Oct. 29-Nov. 4: Mena's Avg. Max.: 66.2F/19.0C; Avg. Min.: 42.7F/5.9C

*=This Tied the Rec. Low Minimum for the Date; set in 1910 & 1993

This week feature more variable temperature conditions and a rapid succession of cold fronts: a dry Pacific cold front on the 29th; dry Canadian cold front on the 30th; a Warm front on the 1st & dry Pacific cold front on the 3rd--we could really, really use a good raindump.
The Warm front--with accompanying warming layer of fog--caused a steady & prolonged temperature rise: The temperature rose from the Morning Minimum of 45F/7.2C on the 1st (was 63F/17.2C--Daytime Maximum--around 5:55PM; was 66F/18.8C--Overall Maximum--around 8:55PM [66F/18.8C being the Minimum on the 2nd]) to the Daytime Maximum of 82F/27.7C on the 2nd (this Maximum was only a couple degreesF below the Rec. High Max. for Date).
The latter days of the week--I suppose--were part of our "Indian Summer". The recent windy conditions have cause quite a number of trees to shed a fair portion of their leaves. The "Autumn Colors" on the area tree leaves' is really starting to take hold here & looking very nice.
Overall High--8:55PM--listed for the 1st; Overall Low--10:35PM--listed for the 3rd.
This might change, but as of now, it looks like the last 100F+/37.7C+ official temperature of 2017 in the US will be 105F/40.5C at Miramar Marine Corps Air Station, California on October 25th (the 48 contiguous US State High Maximum for that day).
Most of the US went back to Standard Time at 2AM yesterday (Sunday the 5th): I really dislike this as our Sunset was at 5:20PM, after a 6:41AM Sunrise.
Forecast for upcoming week calls for very good rainchances early-week, with fairly colder temperatures to follow.

Hello Folks:
Here's previous weeks' weather in Mena, Arkansas:

DATE.......HIGH........LOW........RAIN
Nov...5..80F/26.6C..61F/16.1C..TRACE
........6..67F/19.4C..57F/13.8C..0.10"/2.5mm
........7..57F/13.8C..51F/10.5C..---
........8..51F/10.5C..46F/7.7C...0.10"/2.5mm
........9..62F/16.6C..35F/1.6C...---
......10..63F/17.2C..34F/1.1C...---
......11..60F/15.5C..41F/5.0C...---

For the week of Nov. 5-11: Mena's Avg. Max.: 63.0F/17.2C; Avg. Min.: 40.2F/4.5C

A succession of cold fronts--Pacific cold front on the 5th & dry & weak Canadian cold front on the 9th--conspired to bring cloudy, foggy, chilly & damp conditions to my area from the 6th through the 8th (with near steady or slowly falling temperatures, with drizzle/light rain & murky conditions). The sunny conditions--starting on the 9th--was surely great to see, with relatively warmer afternoons. The lingering clouds/fog & light rain on the 8th was due to "overrunning" conditions, as the cold front was well to our south at that time.
Overall Low-11:15PM-listed for the 5th; Overall High-12:01AM-listed for the 7th (as the Daytime Maximum was only 54F/12.2C around 2PM); Overall High-12:01AM-listed for the 8th (as the Daytime High was a chilly 47F/8.3C around 12:20PM).
The fog, drizzle & light rain was good for a prolonged time of putting moisture into the ground, but my area could still use a good raindump or two.
Most of the US went back to Standard Time at 2AM on the 5th; I really dislike this as our Sunset times are WAYYY Too Early for my liking: On the 5th, our Sunrise was at 6:41AM with a 5:20PM Sunset--YUCK!
The Veteran's Day holiday in the US was on the 11th. GOD Bless ALL The Soldiers. I *Salute* Them & Thank Them For Their Sacrifice & Service.
Forecast for upcoming week calls for continued very warm temperatures until mid-week, with good shower chances and a cool-down afterwards. Sure hope we can get a substantial raindump soon.
