For the week of July 1-7: Mena's Avg. Max.: 88.4F/31.3C: Avg. Min.: 66.7F/19.2C

This past week featured above normal warmth--more typical of mid-Summer. Scant raintotals were from heating showers which formed just to the South, North & East of Mena, and I just caught the outer edges of those rainareas. The "Bermuda High" drifted somewhat to the North, hence the rainareas (going clockwise around the bottom of the circulation of the High pressure dome) were going from West to East--the opposite of the normal movement. A Canadian cold front actually passed through my area on the 7th. Actually rained twice here on the 5th: A TRACE in a very brief shower that fell just before 12NOON & .10"/2.5mm in a slightly heavier shower that fell around 6:15PM. A couple towns in Arkansas actually topped out at 100F/37.7C during the first part of the week.
Forecast for upcoming week calls for more heat with very good rainchances on several days in the week.

Hello WANDJINA G'vale & ALL:

(Sorry for delay, a close lightning strike on the 12th took out the modem of my PC--I was literally seconds from unplugging my PC--and the replacement modem didn't arrive until a few hours ago [Tuesday evening]).

Here's previous weeks' weather for Mena, Arkansas:

DATE........HIGH.........LOW.........RAIN
July...8..89F/31.6C..66F/18.8C..---
.........9..89F/31.6C..71F/21.6C..---

.......12..93F/33.8C..66F/18.8C..0.65"/16.5mm
.......13..92F/33.3C..66F/18.8C..---
.......14..92F/33.3C..69F/20.5C..---

For the week of July 8-14: Mena's Avg. Max.: 89.2F/31.7C; Avg. Min.: 67.0F/19.4C

Finally (and Most Thankfully)--after being barely missed by heating thundershower cells over the past few weeks--my area had a few heating showers form nearby & drift over my area (cells were moving to the W or SW/SSW). I'm Very Thankful for every drop of rain (just missed showers to our N on the 9th), the pleasant coolness was sometimes short-lived, as after the cells passed, the clouds would quickly clear out and the sun would be blazingly hot; in fact, my area was in a Heat Advisory--for Heat Index values of 105F+/40.5C+ for the last half of the week.
Forecast for upcoming week calls for fair chances for heating showers early-week, then hot maximums (approaching 100F/37C) and very poor rainchances afterwards.

@WANDJINA G'vale: Hey! Thanks Much for your interest. Actually this year is turning out quite warm relative to the normals and the early-year rain surplus is diminishing due to the recent & acute dryness. Have A Great One, Good Buddy!

Hello Folks:
Getting a tad warm in my area of the US:
At 5:35PM today (almost 20 minutes ago)--Thursday--Mena's Intermountain Municipal Airport reported a Temperature of 100F/37.7C; with a Dew Point of 72F/22.2C (40.84% Humidity), giving a Heat Index of 111.78F/44.3C! While this may not seem like much, our elevation is almost 1,200FT/almost 366M ASL. The actual temperature is around 95-98F/35-36.6C. Aaahhh, the Good Old "Dog Days of Summer".
Looks like several Date Records for High Temperatures will be tied/broken over the next several days. Keeping my eyes on the US Weather Records site over the next number of days.

For the week of July 15-21: Mena's Avg. Max.: 90.0F/32.2C; Avg. Min.: 67.8F/19.8C

This past week featured nice thundershower activity early-week, followed by very hot & muggy conditions.
A slow-moving Canadian cold front (which passed through on the 17th) enhanced the "heating" shower activity. The rain was most welcome & gave some relief from the heat as well. That front passed just South of my area & became Stationary on the 18th; this gave day-long cloudcover to my area on the 18th, giving somewhat a break from the actual heat--but adding good amounts of sticky humidity. Shortly afterwards, that front retreated NE as a Warm Front, allowing very hot air to invade my area of the US. A dry Canadian cold front passed through on the 21st (giving a slightly cooler top that day).
Very hot across The Natural State on the 20th: Mena's top of 102F/38.8C was our first triple-digit F maximum since also reaching 102F/38.8C on July 22, 2016. Other (lower-elevation) locations in Arkansas were even hotter that day: 109F/42.7C at Booneville 3SSE (Logan County); 108F/42.2C at Subiaco (Logan County) & 107F/41.6C at Ashdown (Little River County) were some of the higher readings. My area--and much of Arkansas--was under an Excessive Heat Warning on the 20th (we are rarely put under this warning). With this kind of heat, it really doesn't take very much humidity to make the Heat Index figures really climb.

Am unsure of where & how many Daily High Maximums were tied/broken during this recent heatwave, as--of now--the US Daily Weather Records site has only updated to Records set/tied as of July 19th (for some reason, the records that are listed on a certain day, actually happened the previous day).

Forecast for upcoming week calls for continued heat with fairly good shower chances later in the week. I hope so, as my area could really use some more substantial raindumps.

For the week of July 22-28: Mena's Avg. Max.: 90.5F/32.5C; Avg. Min.: 68.0F/20.0C

This past week featured more warmth and a cooler finish with very nice thundershower activity and soaking light rainfall. The daylong cloudcover, cooler & rainy conditions felt surely refreshing after the recent heat & dryness. A dry Canadian cold front passed through on the 24th & 26th. The latter front became Stationary, along the Arkansas/Louisiana border and greatly enhanced the moisture supply for the thundershower activity--which was a widespread & multi-day event (thundershowers also on Sunday and today [Monday]).

To give you an idea of how dry it has been here lately, before the rainfall on the 28th; since May 1st, I'd only recorded 7.30"/185.4mm of rain; normal rain in that time-span here is 14.95"/379.7mm (so 48% of normal rainfall from May 1-July 27). Kinda surprised that my county--Polk County--was not put in a Countywide Burn Ban during that time.

Forecast for upcoming week calls for a coolish start with good rainchances, followed by seasonal warmth & very poor chances for showers.

For the week of July 29-Aug. 4: Mena's Avg. Max.: 91.0F/32.7C; Avg. Min.: 67.2F/19.5C

This past week featured a good couple of raindumps and somewhat cooler days and refreshingly cooler mornings. Precipitation was due to the proximity of a Stationary front, not far to our South. The ground was so parched that the hefty rain amounts were almost immediately absorbed (as evidenced by my area not being put in a Flash Flood Watch/Warning, while the good raindumps were happening). Much needed rain in my area, for sure. Otherwise, the rest of the week had varying amounts of cloudcover and still fairly strong sunshine. So far, IMO, a fairly strange Summer, with more of an up-and-down temperature profile.
I'm glad we've had (thus far) at least 1 day with a top of 100F+/37.7C+, so I can call this a "proper" Summer. (In the 15 days following the high of 102F/38.8C on July 20th; there have been a total of 10 days with a maximum below 90F/32.2C).
Forecast for upcoming week calls for somewhat cooler tops, with fairly good thundershower chances from mid-week onwards.

For the week of Aug. 5-11: Mena's Avg. Max.: 90.7F/32.6C; Avg. Min.: 67.0F/19.4C

This past week featured somewhat cooler days and some nice raintotals later in the week. A Canadian cold front passed through on the 8th; this front became Stationary not far to our South (before washing out), giving us nice thundershower activity over multiple days. The ground was so parched, that the rain was quickly soaked up. The cooler temperatures & lower humidity values felt refreshing; esp. in this part of Summer (over a month of Summer officially left here in the NH).
Forecast for the upcoming week calls for very good shower chances (50%-80%) for each day of the week. I'm not sure I've seen such a soggy forecast for an entire week--much less in our typically-dry month of August. Well, I'll gladly take (& be Very Thankful for) any rain that falls (the farmers in my area really need some good raindumps very badly). The temperatures are forecasted to be cooler-than-average as well.

For the week of Aug. 12-18: Mena's Avg. Max.: 90.0F/32.2C; Avg. Min.: 66.1F/18.9C

Had quite the wet--and sometimes very coolish--August week last week. A series of Warm Fronts & Stationary Fronts to our West continued to send Upper-Level impulses/disturbances in my direction. The 13th & 14th felt especially cool, with the thundershower action. Actually rained twice on the 13th: Had 1.50"/38.1mm in early AM showers, then a period of p/c skies and later in the afternoon, another thundershower cell crossed my area with a further 1.65"/41.9mm rain.
The recent wetness was much-needed & very welcome; the majority of the rain (most of which fell slow & steady) was quickly soaked up by the ground (which is why my area was never in a Flash Flood Warning/Flood Warning, during this time). Been quite a while since I've experienced such a wet week in August; in fact, the rain I copped on the 13th (3.15"/80.0mm) alone, exceeds the average rainfall for all of August (2.70"/68.5mm)!
The forecast for upcoming week calls for the best rainchances early-week with quite poor chances afterwards, with mostly average temperatures.

Hello Folks:
Here's previous weeks' weather in Mena, Arkansas:

DATE.......HIGH........LOW........RAIN
Aug..19..87F/30.5C..69F/20.5C..---

.......24..88F/31.1C..66F/18.8C..---
.......25..91F/32.7C..66F/18.8C..---

For the week of Aug. 19-25: Mena's Avg. Max.: 88.7F/31.5C; Avg. Min.: 65.2F/18.4C

Another fairly warm late-August week, with a few cooler mornings in the middle. Somewhat cooler air--and small rainamount--was brought by the passage of a Pacific cold front on the 20th. Otherwise, there wasn't that much in the way of cloudcover for the rest of the week; and the humidity levels were mostly lower.
The 19th was the 122nd "birthday" of the town of Mena (the 1st train [Kansas City, Pittsburg & Gulf; now Kansas City Southern] rolled into town on Aug. 19, 1896).
Forecast for upcoming week calls for similar temperature profile with the best rainchances happening around mid-week.

For the week of Aug. 26-Sep. 1: Mena's Avg. Max.: 87.4F/30.7C; Avg. Min.: 64.0F/17.7C

Another fairly unremarkable late-Summer week. A Pacific cold front pushed through the area (before moving back NE as a Warm front) and brought the light shower amount on the 29th. The days felt less humid after the frontal passage & the mornings felt somewhat cooler.
Forecast for the upcoming week calls for seasonal temperatures early-week and then a bit cooler, with fairly good shower chances from mid-week onward.
Today, Monday, September 3rd is the Labor Day holiday in the US; the traditional end of the Summer vacation/holiday season here in the US (although some schools have already begun a new school year--kids in my area have been back in school for a couple weeks now--a number of other schools will begin the new school year on Tuesday the 4th).

Hello Folks:
Here's previous weeks' weather in Mena, Arkansas:

DATE......HIGH........LOW.........RAIN
Sep..2..83F/28.3C..71F/21.6C..0.10"/2.5mm

.......7..83F/28.3C..66F/18.8C..0.25"/6.3mm

For the week of Sep. 2-8: Mena's Avg. Max.: 85.4F/29.6C; Avg. Min.: 62.4F/16.8C

Early-week rainfall was courtesy of a rather large "Cut-Off Low" which was drifting aimlessly not too far to my SW. Later in the week, Tropical Storm Gordon (TS Gordon) came ashore on the Gulf coast, near the Mississippi/Alabama border; moving in a NW direction.
This system was thought to keep a NW trajectory moving inland, which would take it over much of Arkansas, including my area. Also headed towards Arkansas was a Pacific cold front. The proximity of this front caused the remnants of Gordon (becoming more scattered/weaker) to turn more in a Northerly direction as it approached Arkansas--taking the center of circulation/precipitation over the Arkansas cities of Pine Bluff (Jefferson County) and Little Rock (Pulaski County), and Northwards into the mountainous areas of N Arkansas & S Missouri. Hence, I only copped a small rainamount from a couple of thin and broken rainbands on the extreme Western edge of the remnants.
Forecast for upcoming week calls for cooler conditions eary-on, followed by warmer temperatures and the best precipitation chances are later on in the week.
