It would be a "fine day" anyday indeed, if we had a chance at night!.......... (of a stormy night, I mean.........of course!)

I wonder if there any forecasters in there that like Spoonerisms, such as Fawning Moggies, Soppy Cheese, Sleaze Site, Shattered Scours..

The flash flooding on high ground is a bit strange considering flooding normally happens in low lying areas doesn't it? Thats right, it usually happens in LOW lying areas... If its happening on higher ground then we might consider building an "ark"....lol

No flash flooding can occur at any height, though the local topography plays a part in how severe or unsevere flash flooding could/can be. You generally don't get flash flooding on steeper hill slopes but in the valleys of these highlands often alot of runoff can be all focussed into a small valley causing flash flooding. Or even streams and small creeks running through or next to a farm on the small plateaux could be overwhelmed by the sudden increase in water and briefly break their banks, possibly damaging crops or other structures that are positioned nearby to the stream/creek.

We had flash flooding here in North Tamworth way up the hill a couple of years ago. Roads were ripped up, backyards swamped, fences knocked down by the water, even some damage to the railway line at the crossing.

The flooding would have more to do with localised flooding of roads etc due to the water not being able to get away, especially if the soil is already soaked from previous rainfalls.

From the BOM QLD extended outlook "IDQ1070002 EXTENDED OUTLOOK A new upper level trough will shift the thunderstorm activity a little east on Saturday with increased precipitation on the central coast including the Wide Bay and Burnett. Possible severe thunderstorm cells near the central coast, showers and thunderstorms generally over eastern and northern QLD. Some thundery rain overnight on the Capricornia and Burnett, Wide Bat districts. The upper trough will move towards the coast and develop a weak surface low off the southern tropical coast during Saturday. By Sunday, the upper level trough has cleared the coast with reduced weather over QLD. Isolated showers and thunderstorms over the north and the eastern half of the state. Showers continuing over the SE coast. Dry over the west. By Monday, showers and thunderstorms redeveloping over the west ahead of a new trough while decreasing activity over the east. Little change over the tropics. By Tuesday, the western trough progressing east with a band of showers and thunderstorms from the NW to the Darling Downs. Isolated showers about the east coast. By Wednesday, the trough stalls over the Darling Downs with thunderstorms from the Gulf to the Downs, isolated showers about the east coast. "
Could have sworn it used to be wide bay? lol

Oh there is 2 things funny about that.
1. Wide bat Obviously meant to be Wide bay
2. Capricornia and Burnett, didn't it used to be be Wide bay an Burnett lol not Capricornia and Burnett. Maybe some tectonic plates have been on a rapid move north, never know HEHE.
I find it funny how they say REDUCED weather. So we aren't expecting much weather after Saturday? I have never seen a day without weather. I know what they really mean but perhaps they should have worded it differently.
