in 1974 everywhere in Australia (except the southwestern WA region) recorded above average rainfall. Brisbane exceeded the average *annual* rainfall by the end of January.

The strongest La Nina on record I believe. The SOI remained positive for virtually the entire year.

Darwin's pressure is down to 998.5HPa. Tahiti is hovering around 1010/1011HPa. Tomorrow's SOI reading is going to be a high one.

The 90 day average has not finished climbing...

The 2000 La Nina event didn't produce anywhere near uniform results across the country ... although on average it was one of the wettest years ever. In early 2000 there were flooding rains in much of northern and inland Qld, due partly to a series of cyclones ... however Brisbane missed out as did most southern capitals, the rains benefiting the inland areas of most states. Let's hope the current La Nina produces more consistent results. smile
