Alice Springs has officially had its wettest November in 135 years of records.

Several storms swept through the region today, mostly to the south of the town.

The Alice Springs weather station manager, Ian Charlesworth says the town was on track for its driest year ever, before this month's rain.

"Up to this morning at nine o'clock we had 48 mm in the gauge and we've had another 6.6 mm in the gauge since 9:00am and our total this month has reached about 155 mm. That is a record," he said.

A large storm front has swept through the community of Santa Teresa, south of Alice Springs this afternoon.

Rain cut access to the community on Monday and it is likely to remain isolated for at least another day.

The Shire Service Manager, Tami Moffatt says yesterday's storm tore roofs off two houses that were awaiting demolition.

She says people are about to go outdoors and assess the impact of the latest storm.

"There was a fairly big wind again and the rain was just worse than yesterday actually, probably of shorter duration.

"We've lost power, all our computers and such like are down but we've still got our phones," Ms Moffatt said.

The Bureau of Meteorology has cancelled a severe thunderstorm warning for Alice Springs.

It issued the warning about 1:00pm, predicting damaging winds and large hailstones to hit Alice Springs before 3:00pm.

The bureau says the storm observed on its radar has weakened, though some thunderstorm activity will persist.

Top photo guys! That photo of the tojo really demonstrates how much sediment is brought down by the Todd. How long had it been running roughly after the crusier was washed away?

 Will

Yeah it hit Alice just a few minutes ago... lots of CG lightning, and some strong wind gusts. Raining on and off at the moment. Looks like more building up to the West as well.
