Some storms well inland of here not long ago as well. Not much but it is very early to see this type of activity.

First thunderstorms of the Peninsula district today for 08/09. Amazing the intensity of echoes around Atherton yet not a single lightning strike . . .

It appears that a weak trough has developed inland of the Great Divide in the last 24hrs and a good depth of easterlies from a ridge has fed into the trough and this has resulted in some very early and interesting weather. However I'm very surprised the Atherton event today never made the thunderstorm grading. . . .

Light rain here at the moment. I can't wait until my neighbour gets her water bill. We have had a couple of reasonable showers and I would guess around 5 mm for today and she is standing out in the rain hosing the lawn.

16 hours continuos sprinkler time is not uncommon. Anyone else think that is over doing it? I am talking about a standard house block.

That inland trough you speak of extended all the way to Weipa earlier Nitso. There were some strikes recorded up north and a couple in the lower Burdekin.

We have had around 8mm since last night. Good for the garden. It appears to be a little heavier out on the nth side than here.

I'll reveal more on Friday Pac. Hopefully!

Nice to see that Bilyana to Tully averages 2400+mm a year. Nice stretch of coast that! wink

It's lovely down there RD, will be staying tuned, hope all pans out for you.

More wet conditions here in Cairns, seems the Bureau is having a hard time with this one as it was meant to have cleared up yesterday.
I'm not complaining though, great to see those lovely green lawns.
