HELP!!!!!!!! eek the plague of Anubis is upon us!!!!! There must be at leat 10,000 flying ants in our backyard and neighbours yard ATM.

Ive just been watering the yard as it was thirsty after a long hot day of 34 degrees, so was my neighbour. Once id finished i noticed that there were a helluva lot of flying ants around, both coming from the areas that me and my neighbour had watered. Then 10 mins later the whole area was absolutely blanketed. It was so thick u needed a beekeepers suit-no kidding. I couldn't believe it spiders will have a feast tonight and there are plenty of them too(jono u should come round :p )

We're having a mini fly epidemic atm. The extra dry winter means they started spreading earlier, and the dung beetles aren't out yet. Our premier, Geoff Gallop, swallowed one during an interview a few months ago. eek

I remember about 7 years ago living in a house at Redlynch, west of Cairns and close to the rainforest, and having a plague of flying ants invade the house. It was a stinking hot evening and these bastards were everywhere eek I locked the entire house up, but they were able to get through the floor boards (It was an old Cane farmhouse). The only way I could make them go away was to turn every light out. Even then they swarmed over the TV!
I admitted defeat, turned the TV off and had an early night. (Underneath my mozzie net) :p

Your not wrong lennie they were everywhere last night. Especially around the street lights last night. One came in my room and flicked around the TV, I hate that!!! So I turned on the light and went on a mission. The problem is those ants can give a real bite so you've gotta be careful and try and get rid of them out of your house at least. Storm chances slightly reduced, as lennie mentioned we are not quite on the NE flank now as the change is meant to come through earlier. Looks good for the interiors. Still almost 24 degrees ATM, could be a lot warmer than forecast, depends when the cloud comes through. I'll be settling in to wtach a lot of storms over the interior and hoping some of them make it this way smile

Lol... Talk about coincedence.. Last night at the Earl some guys from Unley Council were throwing back a few and talking about the release of sterile male fruit flies. There was a scheduled release today however because they are released from a moving truck over a tarmac road they said the release wont be so effective as most would have perished in the 50-60? above the road. The flying ants however havnt bothered us much here at Unley yet but im sure they will! There were plently out last night near Gepps Cross Drive-In. (BTW Training Day is a good movie). The floodlights in our back yard were a haven for them last year im sure they will return!!! mad
