Since the predictions thread seems to be filled with talk about unseasonal heat, I thought such matters could be moved over here. Feel free to discuss any upcoming hot weather here . It can be used to alert people in fire prone areas as well.

Yes, all states. WA isn't seeing too much unseasonal heat though. Before you pull out the Tassie jokes, Hobart too has been unseasonably warm, topping 20C on the weekend.

Well at the moment, any heat by definition is unseasonal.. I intend this to be a general 'heatwave' thread though. For example, the talk preceding Feb 7 2009, the speculation about just how hot Melbourne would get... that's the sort of stuff that will be discussed here. If we get an exceptional heatwave, it may warrant a BW thread.

well all I have to say so far is that there is no unseasonal heat for Melbourne yet, as 1. we havent topped 20 this month yet, and 2. even if we do, it happens most Augusts now anyway!

I would call the hottest August night ever recorded in Melbourne unseasonal heat. Also only 5 or so days out of 17 so far with only slightly below average max temps.

Sat night/Sun morning was 12.7, wasn't it? That's not even a daily record for the 16th.

Depends where you are in WA - the largest temperature anomalies for the month so far (around +5) are in the southern WA interior, but that region isn't exactly overwhelmed with people...

The Brisbane forecast is starting to look like a horror show, with every second day hitting the 30C mark.

Brisbane doesn't usually see a solid run of high 20's/low 30's until early October at least! Then again, the fronts haven't been penetrating north at all, so we have a summer pattern where the heat just sits there.

[/b]I did have a look at that and it was just after 9am on the Saturday, and since just about all records are done from 9am to 9am, that's all I would know of as records. Unless Blair has any hourly info, of course.
