Well, it's on again!

After a bit of a false start last year, Weatherzone is planning on producing a spectacular calendar in earnest for next year.

All the details can be found at the official calendar web site

You will notice that we have upped the rewards for successful submissions this year - in addition to seeing your work in print, those photographers whose images are chosen for inclusion in the calendar will receive $200, a free copy of the calendar and a year's subscription to weatherzone silver.

To entice you to keep on submitting images right through until the 31st July 2009 deadline, there is also a monthly prize of 6 months' weatherzone silver subscription for the best photo submitted in March, April, May, June and July.

The calendar can only go ahead with your photos so start submitting - as wide a variety of types of images as possible: storms, sunsets, snow, lightning, flooding, ice, hail etc.

Any questions that you may have, either post them in here or please email calendar@weatherzone.com.au

Matt

The calendar page is excellent!!

I really have nothing worth submitting anymore, have not photographed anything spectacular in over a year. I really think my few sunsets and fog is very low on the interest factor.

Am sure the final print will be speccy though.

Where will it be available to buy Matt? Any public outlets or just off the website,
off topic mate hows fatherhood? We finally have number 2 arrived in the last few days. Boy and girl now, one of each,

dont be so hard on yourself Tim.... I'm sure they wont choose lightning & storm structure for all the images....

Just wondering if images submitted last year need to be re-submitted? I presume they would?

Tim T - Submit anything and everything! We are after a wide variety of images. As Tim E said, we can't have a calendar full of lightning shots. One of the reasons last year's calendar didn't go ahead was the lack of variety submitted, so just give it a go! What have you got to lose? The calendar will definitely be available off the website. Not likely on the shop front...unfortunately, from what we have been told, they need to have advance orders up to 12 months advance, which we have already missed...

And congrats on the baby! I saw the pics in the SA thread smile Look forward to all the sleepless nights ahead (he says straining to look through bleary eyes after being awake from 2am to 4am...)

Tim E - yes, only images submitted this time around will be considered for the 2010 calendar, so please resubmit any images you submitted last year.

Rikki - No time limit on when the photos were taken smile

Hi all

Just a reminder that entries close for the 2010 Weatherzone Calendar on 31 July so make sure you get your images in before then!

We have had plenty of great images, but there is always room for more.

Head to the submission page for more details!

Matt, I'm not sure if I'm understanding the instructions correctly. For digital images would you like low to medium resolution images first (so as to be under the 1.5MB limit each). Then, only if our image is chosen, we would send that image at its original size?
Plus, if I'm emailing the submission form, in the signature part would you just like us to type our name in or insert an image of our signature? Thanks. smile

I hope there is room in that calendar for "mostly sunny and/or fine" weather pictures! Those form the majority of my collection. laugh

We have selected the winning images and are in the process of contacting the photographers at the moment. I think I can safely say that we have a spectacular set of photos!

The advertising page at www.weathercalendar.com.au will be updated within the next week with the chosen images.

The calendar will go on sale in October and will be widely advertised before then smile

The 2010 weatherzone calendar is now on sale!

You can check out all the spectacular images in the calendar at http://www.weathercalendar.com.au/

The calendar is on sale through the SMH shop

I have seen some finished copies of the calendar and, I must say, they look brilliant.

A must-have Christmas present for any weather enthusiast or appreciator of Australian photography alike!

Thanks to everyone for your support of the photo competition and I look forward to seeing many more submissions from you all next year for the 2011 calendar smile

Fairfax offered to sell it for us through the SMH shop, so it just made sense to do that, rather than duplicate the process! Would have required a few days' development time to set up a payment portal on Weatherzone, as we couldn't sell it through the WZ shop (that is run by a 3rd party who would not want to be involved in calendar distribution).

Short answer - it was just a lot simpler!

Matthew, I'm actually having problems with ordering it? Maybe I'm being blonde but I can't seem to get to check out?

Cheers, Cat
