Fantastic stuff, looks like the mountain is a lightning magnet. BTW took 2 mins to load on 128K.

WOW eek

As you progress through the shots, you can almost feel the storm getting closer to you.

Could you imagine being in that position? I'd be thinking yeah, just one more shot and then I'll move. Looking at that last shot in the sequence, that would likely be the one I would move after.

Here is a link to the site that posted the original images. It also has a tracker map showing lightning activity for that period and where the photo was taken.

Meteo Barzio Web Page

The very loose translation of the two paragraphs of text is as follows:

This particular thunderstorm formed over Lario and remained almost stationary for almost an hour. There was little precipitation between Grigna and Barzio (virga was observed over Gringa), which kept visability very good, and allowed a clear view of the lightning's point of contact.

Here is the CESI (I think this is like our BOM) map of that day showing the lightning activity. As you can notice most of the electrical activity has been around Gringa between 20:00 and midnight, probably beyond 300..

This second paragraph refers to the lightning tracker map on the website that I have put the link to above.

Rog.

Probably the fact the mountain is high was a good starting point wink

Seriously though the cell stayed over the same area for a good couple of hours. Certainly up there with the most impressive CG pics I've seen anywhere
