Here we go again!
Tues evening to Wed morning warning from BOM.
Not sure I like the part about it being of similar strength to the system that affected the southwest on Sunday.

TUESDAY EVENING THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING:
Area affected: Southwest of a line from Geraldton to Southern Cross to Israelite
Bay.
An intense storm is expected to hit the south of the state on Tuesday evening.
This storm will be of similar strength to the system that affected the southwest
on Sunday. This storm is expected to cause WIDESPREAD DANGEROUS WINDS in excess
of 125 kilometres per hour that could cause SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE OR DESTRUCTION TO
HOMES OR PROPERTY.

HIGHER THAN NORMAL TIDES may result in flooding of low-lying coastal areas.
People near Geographe Bay are specifically warned of the potential for a
DANGEROUS STORM TIDE. Tides are likely to rise significantly above the normal
high tide mark. DANGEROUS SURF CONDITIONS are likely which could cause
significant beach erosion.

Thanks for your regards.
The worst part about this storm is that there are so many trees down and roofs off from the last few days storm activity.
Poor western power crew working in these conditions trying to get as many houses up and runing with power.
Even now the rain is constant and wind gusting up to 56 km/h at Garden Island.
Poor guys are even loosing there helmets while up the cherry pickers.

Thats trav's polite way of saying 'I hope Perth gets absolutely smashed and make sure you capture it on camera so we can all have a look'. lol.

Nahh wild weather for Perth this winter. The systems down south are so big that its dictating our weather up here in Broome too. We have lost our easterlies. Been some SW winds, big swell and humidity has crept back up again. Light band of rain on radar this morning to the south of Broome too.

I just went around and layed all my big pot plants down in the same position that the storm blew them over into on Sunday lol!
Trying to get as prepared as possible. Can one ever? It's difficult if your not used to cyclonic type winds.

I must say the storm on Sunday was pretty amazing, never seen bits of whatever flying through the air like I did then. I've lived continously in Perth for 35 years and never experienced anything like it! Even cyclone Alby wasn't that bad. Now I know what all you avid cyclone watchers feel like hoping for a close encounter; it was scary and thrilling all at the same time lol!

Eeerily calm here in my suburb at the moment, has been since last night. Not a breath of wind anywhere, hard to believe we are about to experience the same again as Sunday. Easy to be complacent and think there's no need to make sure everything is tidy around the yard etc.,

WEATHER SITUATION
An intense storm is expected to hit the south of the state from late Tuesday

affected the southwest on Sunday though this storm will also affect the south
coast significantly and extend further inland.

Gee...993 is low.
As I said in a previous post....all stay safe.
Watching from afar in Vic.
When we were kids (very long time ago), we were taught to take refuge in the bathroom/shower recess, with rugs or a mattress over the top of us if a cyclone hit. Because of the many wall structures in a bathroom, it can be the strongest part of a house. Though I hope you guys don't have to resort to ducking for cover like that.

Here's a GFS forecast sounding for Perth adjusted for the current obs-

http://soundings.bsch.au.com/skew-t.html...dp=14&mixop=usr

In this sounding, 0-6 km shear is ~60 knots and, significantly, 0-1 km shear is around 40 knots. If anything, the current N'ly surface winds are only increasing low-level shear and leading to greater curvature in the low-level hodograph. Dew points have also increased to 13-15 C in coastal areas which should boast surface-based CAPE. Certainly has the hallmarks of a low CAPE/strong shear tornado environment though it would seem that widespread damage winds are likely in any case.
