I havent decided whether or not to head out either, the front is still a fair way off, probably wont arrive till 10-12pm I think, as usaul in the dark hours. Just for once I would like a strong front to arrive during daylight hours! smile

I might head down to my usaul winter spot, ocean reef marina and work it out from there, dont know if I will get all the way down to Mandurah, but I will give yah a call if I get anywhere near there.

Fush and Chups, your not a kiwi are yah? :p

yeah it was an awesome looking line on the radar. Went down to the local marina and watched it come in. You could see the line of cbs even at night time, just wish it came through in the daylight hours. Saw a bit of lightning and got rained on.

Still got the front to come through tonight hopefully some more storms on that, though it is looking just like being a rain band by the time it gets to us.

well rainfall was as expected fairly poor, only 11m for me, the official site getting 12.6mm. Should be a few more mm today though in the south westerly stream and a weak front due through this evening.

14mm For me, as expected.

I also did see some lightning around Mandurah, but it wasn't all that frequent, maybe 1 a minute or so. There was some breif lightning over the western suburbs but that didn't last long. It was good to see lightning again, but nothing better than a summer 'thundery shower'.

The outlook doesnt look great either, another 10 days of basically fine weather, maybe a shower or two during that but nothing significant.

This don't look to good although things may change...

A dry start to August for WA
Brett Dutschke, Wed 14:58 EST

During July a large area of western and southern WA received well below average rainfall with some locations getting their lowest on record. The start of August also looks pretty dry for inland parts of this region. The bulk of WA looks set for a spell of dry weather over the next week or so due to the likelihood of a persistent high pressure ridge over the state. This means nights will be cool (generally average temperatures or below) and the days mild (about average). In the next few days Perth has minimums forecast as low as 4 degrees (4 below the August average). The main exception will be the southwest corner and the southern coastline. The occasional front will bring a few light showers to this region every day or two, but nothing more than 5mm near the coast each time.

this came from this website

hope the rain fills up the dams soon!!!

Did anyone see the pyrocumulus today from the fire somewhere to the north? I saw it around 1.20pm but it didn't last long. It was interesting that the Pc was on top of smoke so far from the fire, too.
