Interesting image Ern... Sat outside tonight with the tripod and snapped this long exposure pic of our sky. Now why couldn't that cloud cover be around this afternoon when I was unloading a truck of hay in 40 degrees!

Nice pics people.

With the coastal cloud pulling back to the east a little but not completely, I thought it might be worth a trip to the western lookouts to score a sunset. Nature did the rest.

Last night on the Central Plateau of NSW:

Great photos Ern, Tim and Blizz, theyre all fantastic. Its a great country we live in.
Here is a couple of photos the lovely mrs volkl took for us last monday while i was at work. There was a lot of storms popping up on monday afternoon, they were not overly large, but they made for good photos with the clear blue sky and the storms making a good contrast.
I had a lot of trouble getting these pictures uploaded as i had the camera on the wrong setting and they were all taken as a raw format. Ive been re-sizing, changing file names, then resizing again etc... Theyre nothing breathtaking, the idea was to get them uploaded to give everybody an idea of what the sky was doing up this way, but anyway, better late than never i suppose.

Ive created links to the following pictures because thrye slightly bigger than they should be, and theyre not really weather related. I was just wondering if someone could tell me if this is a wedge tailed eagle?
flying 17kb approx
sitting 45kb approx
sitting 40kb approx
Im pretty sure it is, but ive never been close enough to one before to be able to zoom right in on it. The last picture is a little light, i was starting to get a shadowing effect because the light was shining from behind the bird, so i thought if i over exposed it slightly i might still be able to keep some colour.

Thanks Ray. i just got told by someone on another forum that it was a spotted harrier. Ive seen plenty of wedgr tail eagles riding the thermals hundreds of metres up in the air, but ive never been so close to one which i why i wasnt sure. Thanks for the reply, i will keep my eye out for spotted harriers next time im in that area. Im going to do a google search for them now.

Another view of the Solar Halo 17 Dec 2003 taken an hour after the previous image (see last page in this thread). This one has some interesting cloud formation. Slight under exposure accentuates the inner 'Alexanders Dark Band'.

I think the last pictures posted were just the epitomy of boring weather except for the nice sunset. Sorry weathernut, just kidding. But I'm moved enough to bend 'the rules of topic' here just to liven this thread up a bit. Sorry it's a tad out of date (Mirages, Laverton, 18-4-1971) but at least its got some nice clouds and chem-trails and the obstructions are a bit more 'sexier' than powerlines.
