Nice pics people. With the coastal cloud pulling back to the east a little but not completely, I thought it might be worth a trip to the western lookouts to score a sunset. Nature did the rest. Last night on the Central Plateau of NSW:

Ive created links to the following pictures because thrye slightly bigger than they should be, and theyre not really weather related. I was just wondering if someone could tell me if this is a wedge tailed eagle? flying 17kb approx sitting 45kb approx sitting 40kb approx Im pretty sure it is, but ive never been close enough to one before to be able to zoom right in on it. The last picture is a little light, i was starting to get a shadowing effect because the light was shining from behind the bird, so i thought if i over exposed it slightly i might still be able to keep some colour.

Ha Volkl  What you have there is a type of Kestrel “I Think” I can say that when you see a Wedgy you will stand in ore “You will Know you are in the presents of beauty mate" Have a look here mate. http://www.schoolworld.asn.au/species/wteagle.html When I was a kid I use to feed a pair of them with Rabbits that I would go out and get through the night. They became very quite I could get as close as a coulpe of feet from them. I have pix of them some were i'll see if I can find them. I have just looked it up you have a Spotted Harrier mate. Ray

Another view of the Solar Halo 17 Dec 2003 taken an hour after the previous image (see last page in this thread). This one has some interesting cloud formation. Slight under exposure accentuates the inner 'Alexanders Dark Band'. http://www.ernmphotography.com/ Good Sundog Weathernut. Ern.
