Todays rain was on and off. One minute it clears then more cloud comes along rains then clears...

We should get 20mm over the weekend.

If the ocf is correct, we may just get our average for the month.

we are way above average for the year anyway, 250mm+ for the year... only supposed to be 204mm up to may.

Heavy showers return to southwest WA

Just two days after copping a brief deluge of 23 millimetres of rain in 15 minutes, Witchcliffe in the Margaret River region picked up another nine in 10 minutes today, according to weatherzone.com.au.

These heavy bursts have occurred amongst generally light and infrequent showers and have helped accumulate 68mm in two and-a-half days. Witchcliffe is one of the locations in the Southwest district to now have more than their May average, in excess of 100mm.

The Southwest has been one of the wettest regions in southern Australia this autumn with 100 to 200mm. Reasonable rain has reached the wheat belt, 50 to 100mm, above average for western and southern parts.

Since early Thursday the Central Wheat Belt, Goldfields and Gascoyne have only had about 10mm or less.

The next session of widespread showers looks like being on Wednesday and Thursday.

says there is a 60 to 70 percent chance of below average winter rain in sw wa !!!

I remember them saying the same thing in 2005... and it was wet !!

Well the event yesterday gave perth 9 mm.

I hope the event this weekend gives us more.

Although we are below the average this month the yearly rainfall is way above for this year!!!

A low pressure system and rain band are developing off the west coast. The low
is expected to deepen and pass to the south of Cape Leeuwin late Saturday
morning or early afternoon. The passage of the low is expected to cause widespread damaging winds to 100 kilometres per hour with locally destructive gusts in excess of 125 kilometres per hour . Severe winds are forecast to develop
in coastal parts of the Southwest District early Saturday morning, then extend
to remaining parts during Saturday morning and early afternoon. The rain band is
likely to produce locally heavy rainfall through the Southwest, Lower West and
adjacent parts of the Central West. Thunderstorms are also possible in the
warning area and remaining parts of the Lower West and Central West Districts.

Higher than normal tides may result in inundation of low-lying coastal areas,
The FESA - State Emergency Service advises that people should secure loose items
and stay indoors when strong winds develop. Boat owners should ensure that small
craft are securely moored. Driving conditions will be hazardous. Should flash
flooding occur, avoid affected roads, watercourses and floodways in the vicinity
until safe to proceed.

The next warning will be issued by 10:00 pm Friday


So it finally looks like a decent system that will give us more than 10mm

Weird that Qld is getting heavy rain.... i would expect that in jan-march rather than now... rain hoggers !!!!

Yer stacks storms around Perth atm, good sfc convergence with excellent uppers and divergence there with jet aloft and good turning down low, plus the sounding indicates some deep instability....cloud tops to 40,000ft. Looking good now on radar and knowing Perth radar severely underestimates rainfall rates, there would be some very heavy storms in that. One place just copped 58mm.

Perth so far has scored 40.8mm out of it... that goes towards june's total

Next weekend the temp will be 25 !!! from bom.... though this could be wrong and changed if the ocf turns out to be correct....

Looks like a decent front to hit perth next sunday/monday.... well by the synoptic maps at the moment... though i better not get my hopes up as it may not be in the maps in a few days time but ... here's hoping it comes through !
though it has to get past a 1035hp high. the ocf is heaps optimistic.... look at their predictions... we will get over 100mm easily this month in just over a week if it is correct....

20mm for next sunday
4mm on monday (18 degrees max)
29mm on tuesday with only 16.9 degreees ( wow winter to the max!! )

So looks like we only have 3 weeks or less to get the average. If you believe the 3 month outlook then it looks like we won't make the average either for this month... 70 percent chance of below average conditions... and above average temps... so far it looks like they are right.... but the ocf may also be right so this forecast of below average rains could turn out to be a load of tripe

and qld and nsw are getting very heavy rain... just like they predicted... i will be a little concerned if we are halfway through the month and we have had nothing and qld and nsw have another two rain events !!! and have had more than normal rainfall.
