A cold, very gusty SW windy, showery day here, got 1.5mm in the gauge. (Is it my imagination we had 34C here last week?).

Well done Tiges, ....and Petros won the Royal Maffra Golf Club's monthly medal today.

Hi guys! My report for the last day of September from here in Corryong. smile

My family and I took a drive out of town and across the Murray River to Khancoban and then to Cabramurra and the nearby Selwyn Snowfields in the NSW Snowy Mountains.

We left Corryong around 10:45am and returned at about 5:45pm.

Weatherwise it was nice and sunny for the most part, but with a raw chill wind up in the Snowies. Any rain or snow that occurred with the passage of last night's cold front had cleared off, although we did get some high cloud from the trough away to the north.

Temperatures were around 14-16C from Corryong to Tooma via Khancoban, but at Tooma itself the temperature peaked at 17C. smile

Driving north towards Tumbarumba and then east along the Elliot Way, the temperature gradually fell to 8C.

It warmed back to 12C at the O'Hare Rest Area (at the top end of the Talbingo Reservoir, near Tumut 2 Power Station). Then once more it dropped to 6-8C during the 3-4 hour period we were at Cabramurra and Mount Selwyn, with gusty winds that made it feel more like 1-4C. eek

On the return trip, the temperature reached 13C at the O'Hare Rest Area, then dipped to 8C at Nurenmerenmong (located in the forested area along the Elliot Way east of Tumbarumba btw lol), and then warmed back to around 14-15C from Tooma through Towong to Corryong. smile

Plenty of snow still coated along the Kosciuszko ridge, but the vast majority of snow has disappeared from Cabramurra and Mount Selwyn. Still, there was enough snow at the Selwyn Snowfields for me to do some tobogganing! smile

It's just as well as the snow season ends today. frown

Some more flowers and blossoms about, and canola fields around Khancoban and Tooma.

Also a beautiful sunset back here in Corryong this evening, with a crystal clear moonlit night to follow. But it's going to be icy tonight, dropping down to 1C, and there's a Frost Warning out for the Northeast, but it's forecast to a warm to a mostly sunny 18C tomorrow arvo! smile

Currently around 4C at nearby Khancoban.

Nice country asf grin

Next Fridays forecast is showing some promise in the rain stakes after a mongrel year that is not being kind at all.

The wind is drying it off again, going backwards into Spring mad

Tough year!

Hi again everyone! smile

I'm back home in Belgrave, having arrived here in Melbourne from Corryong, Northeast Victoria around 2 hours ago. My report for yesterday and today.

Yesterday was much sunnier than the day before across the Upper Murray.

A very nippy night with lows of around 0-2C with possible fog and frost quickly gave way to a gloriously fine, mild and mostly sunny afternoon with a cool breeze. Temperatures were generally around 18C. Perfect for taking a drive with the family across the Murray River to Khancoban, NSW. smile

Only other thing worth mentioning was smoke billowing from a couple of out of control blazes between Tooma and Tumbarumba, according to the NSW Rural Fire Service website.

And now for today's report.

My family and I left Corryong at about 3pm. Our first stop was at Beechworth for afternoon tea at about 4:30pm for about 30 minutes. An hour later we reached the M31 Hume Freeway (Melbourne-Sydney) at Wangaratta, and by roughly 6pm we arrived at Benalla for dinner. Just after 7pm we continued southwest to Melbourne via Lake Nillahcootie, Bonnie Doon, Yea, the Yarra Valley, and the Dandenong Ranges. By about 9:30pm we reached home.

Today was by far the best day of the trip in terms of weather. Another nippy night with lows of about 0-2C with local fog and frost about the Upper Murray gave way to a gloriously fine, mild to warm and sunny afternoon with hardly a cloud in the sky, and little if any wind! grin

Temperatures ranges between 17-21C from Corryong right through to Benalla.

At 7pm it was about 16C as we were leaving Benalla, and the temperature dropped as darkness fell after sunset and we drove south on the Midland Highway. By the time we joined the Maroondah Highway at Maindample (near Mansfield - at about 7:30pm) it was 9C.

From then on, the temperature fluctuated between 9-11C virtually the whole way to Kallista in the Dandenong Ranges (with the exception of Yarra Glen, where it briefly "warmed" to 12C), before finally dropping one more notch to 8C the rest of the way home.

Still plenty of snow coated along the Kosciuszko ridge (and to a lesser extent over Mount Bogong). Also very lush and green, with lots of beautiful flowers and blossoms, and some stunning yellow canola fields. And Lake Hume is still around 91%, while Lake Nillahcootie and Lake Eildon are each at roughly 91% and 73% capacity respectively according to Goulburn-Murray Waters.

Ah, the magic of springtime across Northern Victoria and Southern NSW/ACT!! grin

Full stats from the BOM from my trip to Corryong to come in the next few days. smile

My weather station is still offline for the moment, but it's currently around 10C at Scoresby.

Agree P, at least the breeze dropped off.

March plan here, put place on market early Spring, it'll look A1 and nicely greened up - oh well !!

1/2" would work wonders at this stage.

Hi guys! smile

Sorry I've been away from the past few days, I've been very busy. My report from here in Belgrave, since I returned to Melbourne from Corryong.

Note that the stats are from nearby Scoresby, unless otherwise stated; my weather station should be back online in a couple of days or so. smile

Tuesday October 3rd 2017
Low: 4.2C High: 22.6C Rain: 0mm

Wednesday October 3rd 2017
Low: 5.2C High: 26.0C Rain: 0mm

The past two days have featured rather cold mornings and some delightfully mild to warm, mostly sunny afternoons. Perfect for spending outside! grin

As for today, it ranged between about 10C and 20C. It was cloudy for starters, and we had rain at times until about 11am as the trough came through. The rest of the day was a mix of sun and cloud, with colder, gusty southwesterlies arriving around lunchtime. And this evening has been cold and showery, with about 1mm of rain so far. smile

Calm, overcast and sultry day here, showers around midday provided a welcome but unexpected 0.75mm.

Hoping for a lucky storm with tonight's change - would assist greatly with lot's of work put in by members of the RMGC who sprigged couch into our 13th fairway this morning.

Perfect still/cool morning for burning off fallen small Redgum limbs/leaf from recent winds.

Rang local CFA Capt, told Vicfire - better than them turning up and wasting everyones time. grin

Had our first thundery spring rain dumped 10mm, was very heavy with few lighting , no winds as very slow moving trough storm.

Lucky had isolated showers of 1mm about 3pm helps pump more moist into trough as it build CG thuderstorm very fast from West of Bendigo.

Hey gang! Been an interesting couple of days, and here's my report from here in Belgrave. smile

Very chilly weather on Friday, with a high of 15.5C at Scoresby (low of 8.8C). The clouds and morning showers gradually gave way to progressively sunnier skies but the winds were raw and unpleasant! eek

It was a very nippy Saturday morning, with a low of 3.5C. But despite stubborn clouds that lasted well into the afternoon it was a delightfully warm, reaching a high of 22C at Scoresby. My weather station came back online yesterday, and I registered a high of 24.9C. smile

It was a balmy, blustery night, with a low of 14.5C. It then warmed to 26.9C here in Belgrave today! A mix of sun and cloud, with a few spitting light showers around lunchtime, and for much of the day we had howling northerly winds (peak gust to 29.9km/h).

Over the past two hours we had two thunderstorms come through, both weak and brief but exciting nonetheless!

The first storm struck around 8:15pm; a large cumulonimbus anvil preceded it in the gathering twilight, and it was ominously dark looking northwest towards the storm's core. We had a rumble of thunder at about 7:58pm, then a flash of lightning around 10 minutes later, then followed by 5-10 minutes of heavy rain. smile

The second storm hit around 9:30pm, bringing only one flash of lightning but more heavy rain that lasted about 15 minutes.

In total I've collected a mere 1mm from the storms, but better than nothing. smile

At least it was nice to see some impressive convection bubbling across Melbourne's west along the trough earlier this evening; the storm flaring high over Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula around 6pm was the most photogenic!

Currently around 15C.
