Around 1:30pm here yesterday as the wind backed through due west, I experienced the strongest winds I've ever played golf in!

Damage around N Gippy wasnt all that severe, probably due to the dry ground?

Noticeably cold morning and day for this time of the year here today.

Calmed off here nicely by approx lunch time, coolish 23C @ E/SALE.

See 150kph gusts @ Hogan Isle y'day 1300hrs.

Drove through drizzle to Loy Yang this morning, but only a TC here. Another cool overcast day here with a fresh SW'ly; continuing a Gippsland February that feels more like the typical Christmas/New Year weather when it goes cool misty (but easterly rather than the w-S directions of late.

Just got home to find 14.5mm in the raingauge. Very surprised, was expecting 3-6mm going by GFS and AccR last night.

Fresh easterly and thick drizzle persisting as I type. Baro at 1015 hPa - the typical value when Gippsland cops an easterly, could get a few more mm in coming hours.

Ended with 7mm in Sale, Max temp 19.3C !!

14.5mm is handy P, radar this morning showed more rain to our N - Maffra scored well.

Near got to 35C here today, not enough NW'ly to rattle the wind chimes, not expecting it to either as the night gradually cools and we get some teaser showers in the night.

Had a teaser shower early this morning too, nothing in the gauge. Got very dry now in non-irrigated areas.

32C now and dead calm.

It's been very windy on the Mornington Peninsula in the last week or so. ISTR that it was windy around this time last year too.

Coming from Wollongong, NSW, and only recently moved here, I'm used to the windy season being late August, early September.

Is this the windy season here, or is the timing of this Windex coincidence?
