if I were to live in country Victoria I'd choose Mildura first and foremost for the HOT, HOT summers, constant sunshine (I absolutely adore heat and sunshine smile ) and for the great big thunderstorms!! laugh

now, today's cold, drizzle weather will last all week in Melbourne frown So far its 3 overcast days and counting......

Sunshine and cool temps around 17C will be dominant in Mildura. smile

Hey Twister
I actually went up to the Mildura region during the first half of April into some spectacular hot weather! Out of the 10 days, about 7-8 were above 30C and two were around 35-36C with a 22C night man I was lovin it!! I would love to be there during summer the 30-40C days and 20-30C nights combined with storms would be magic!!!

You can keep your heatwave in Mildura, I'll stay in Melbourne! Anything over about 27 degrees is too hot for me!

ok guys this is day to day weather,so I will begin to share my observations with everyone (something i used to do!)

overcast skies until about 2 when the sun began to shine. no rain or drizzle about.

min 7.6 max 14.4

other Western Melbourne temps

laverton 8.1-15.6
essendon 7.8-14.4
airport 7.4-14.4
avalon 7.8-16.3

will try and do this everyday smile

norfolk

ps, also may so far min: 8.0 max 17.7

and just to catch up.......
Caroline Springs Temps(Melb Temps)
Jan 14.9-26.8(16.1-26.4)
Feb 13.6-24.0(14.7-24.3)
Mar 11.9-23.2(13.8-23.9)
Apr 11/8-23.5(13.6-24.1)

I usually find summer is warmer here than official melb temps most years and winter colder.....
but then i havent been living this far west for long so may just be the last couple of years.

Anyone wanna comment please do.

yeah Twister I remember one September day in 2002? when it got to 37C eek in mildura with only 22C in Melb thats spectacular considering that it's barely out of winter!

Man I'm drooling over those temps 47C and storms lol that is amazing. Ive read your posts Twister on that heatwave and was astounded to read that at like midnight was still 37C just beautiful weather!!! BRING ON SUMMER! smile

Today's weather in my neck of the woods was fairly ordinary overcast all day but cleared off for the night. Quite cold aswell!

Melbourne's weather will finally clear up on Thursday smile but rainfall was not really what it was made out to be by he weatherman!

yes your right Norfolk the summer temps in west Melb do tend to get hotter than the CBD infact they heat up like crazy during summer mornings sometimes topping the CBD by up to 5C. Laverton and Avalon are especially damn good at this lol smile

Melbourne's being gripped by constant cloud lately hopefully we'll see some sun soon. Today was overcast & cold yet again with some drizzle at my south eastern sunburbs. NW Vic had crisp clear conditions, getting down to 0.7C eek in Mildura overnight (however, Renmark, a similar location just over the S.A border got to near
-2C!!!) NW Vic will at this stage receive crisp, cool sunny weather for the forseeble period.

For Melbourne: 10 to 15C COLD a few showers hopefully decent this time!

Hey Twister do you have on you your Min temps observations from that massive Mildura heatwave?

Interesting comparison of avg daily sun for May at Melbourne and Mildura I got from the BoM.

So far: Melb has an avg of 5.5 hrs / day for May
which I think is around 55-60% of max possible
Total hours amassed: 164 hrs

Mildura is on 8.1 hours/day which would be near 80% of max possible for this time of year.
Total hrs amassed: 244 hrs smile

For Melbourne its now offically a whole week of overcast sunless days. Lets see some SUNSHINE happening now! smile
