The change for the weekend does look dry, but there could be some more lightning about with little rainfall. Long way out but the trend suggests that.

I wouldn't be surprised if both days of the weekend were closer to 40C.

Tuesday here looks about right on about 33C. Wednesday will be closer to 27C and Thursday closer to 30C.

Trending hotter and hotter. Can't wait for January

Is there any hope for decent rain from storms any time soon? These high based ones are a real worry. Nothing will burn up here'cos theres nothing to burn but the forests will go like hell.

Tomorrows nights/early Wednesdays mornings change will be a dry one then warm up to be around 22-23 on Wednesday & 24-25 in Melbourne on Thursday more like early to low 30s on Wednesday and mid 30's on Thursday closer to the Murray. Friday will be around 30 in Melbourne probably be the battle of the seabreeze and northerly wind type of day, mid to high 30's in Northern Victoria. High 30's in most places Saturday including Melbourne then some sort of change during Sunday hard to tell at the moment which part of the day yet which will determined what the temp will be on Sunday, at the moment the models are going for few showers with a weak cloud band to come through after the wind change itself Sunday night into Monday but guess have to wait and see. I checked out some other models which look into 2 weeks forecast and theres a slight possibility at the moment that we made get some Humidity feeding into Victoria late next week/ weekend in a fortnights time around the 15th to 18th Dec something we have been lacking of late and finally get some useful rainfall when a change rocks through but very hard to tell at the moment I will keep an eye on these models.

Melbourne Summary:

Melbourne CBD received 71 mm of rain for spring (normal: 175 mm), the average minimum temperature was 10.6 deg C (normal: 10.4 deg C) and the average maximum temperature was 21.4 deg C (normal: 19.5 deg C). Several suburbs experienced their driest Spring on record. The combined winter-spring rainfall for the city was only 165 mm, the lowest on record (previous record: 175 mm in 1982).

And we all know how bad that drought was so it is offical we have had our driest winter-spring drier than 1982,2002,1914,1997,1967,1994 which were all extremely dry in Melbourne during Winter and Spring

Then we had Ash Wednesday in Feb 83 (after the previous driest in 82). Looking like the same scary scenario is a definate possibility.

The smoke around here is ridiculous this morning, reducing visibility to just ~1km at times. No breeze to think of, me thinks its going to get a bit warmer then 29C today.

BTW, this weekend looks like being a stinker...

Lady at work who spends 2 weeks on the murray is cancelling for the first time since cocky was an egg. Only 7 feet of water and there are restrictions on water skiing and boating.

Sorry to be a dampener.

Well murray is fine here dosnt look low at all

Its at normal level here atm though dare say thats due to the weir just downstream from here so no water issue here
Went on Stage 1 water restrictions yeserday first time in Milduras history and this year now being compared to 1982 and 1914 the worst drought years on record shows how bad it is

Not as bad today only 34c with light N wind Saturday will be first REAL taste of summer 40c and Strong N winds acrosss the state will be a horror

Should see some thunderies in Sw vic overnight with front all dry and high based but fires should watch out

Weve recently just moved on to Stage 2 Restrictions.

Recorded a max temp under the pigola of 34C yesterday-not very accurate compared to 31C at the RAAF base. Just realised we have not had any recordable rain since November 14th here frown .

Stage 4 water restrictions start here on Dec 9 - no watering anything outside the house, and no washing cars at all (except for windows).

Demand for water tanks down here has gone through the roof!

I think it is funny, people don't seem to think it will ever rain again!!!!

Beautiful weather down here the last few days, looked to be quite hazy over smoggy melbourne though.

When was the chance for storms, was that last night?

There was no mention of storms in the forecast last night Lightnin just a cool change isolated dry storms are forcasted in NE victoria today though. Yeah terrible isn't it about stage 4 restrictions in Geelong i guess it's the times we live in at the moment.

BOM have downgraded the temp for sunday in Melb now at this moment there going for 25c than 33c its a tricky one wouldn't suprise me they change it another 3 times by the time it gets to Sunday then on the day itself ends up being the complete opposite that was forecasted the night before. At the moment they think the trough will come through in the morning but Northern Vic should stay very hot Sunday into the Afternoon.
