Mods are normal people, they work etc like the rest of us, and therefore would have limited time. So I wouldn't be critical of moderators.

But they do take on a responsibility when they become a moderator.

Are you offering to get involved?

As such it effectively doubles the 'work' required to find photos and short reports.
ANd this problem stems from lack of proper moderation. I've seen quite a lot lately where people are posting photos/chase reports in both BW and BR and nothing is done about it...moderators need to and should be more stringent on this sort of behavior or else it gets out of hand.

I can wholehearthedly see what Macca is saying here. I do share similar concerns, and have put my ideas forward. There are pros and cons with the new arrangement that is being proposed but for now, we will just have to see what happens once it is actually put into motion.

TS cool

Exactly. The changes WILL happen for the start up of the new forum, but it doesn't mean they are set in stone. If the new setup causes issues, then of course we will re-visit the changes to see if further improvement can be made.

I think it is a little bit disappointing to see some of the criticism levelled at the moderators for lack of involvement here. Most frequently, I hear complaints that these forums are OVER moderated, not the opposite.

As FR stated, all the mods are volunteers who do it for no reason other than the good of the forum and the benefit of for members. They are not paid for their time and, as such, can not be expected to be micromanaging all threads to the extent that has been applied above.

There has to be a degree of personal responsibility on the part of posters. If people are not "getting" the dual forum setup, we need to address that structure, not expect the mods to constantly clean up after people. It is that addressing of the structural issues that we are attempting here.

We fully acknowledge that we will never be able to please all members 100% of the time. But we will do our best to keep the vast majority happy.

OK...given the likely active weather tomorrow (and quieter outlook today), we have made an executive decision to go ahead with the upgrade today.

The forum will go down within the next 15 mins, and will likely be down until around 4-5pm today to allow us to carry out all the necessary changes and import of data.

All going to plan, we'll see you in the new forum in ~ 6 hours!

Looks like we have something. laugh

I'm sure there'll be plenty of issues to sift through, not all of them aesthetic, but for now I'm going home.

I don't mind the new look-but have to zoom in to read people's posts-otherwise what I see for now is good.

May I ask why my username is now "Vortex_dup1" (i.e) duplicate of Vortex? I am unable to find any settings to revert my WZ name back to what it was prior to the changeover. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! smile

Print is far too small for comfortable reading with some associated eye strain and quite tiring to read for an extended period.
The rest I will no doubt get use to once I figure out how to navigate my way around again.

Love the new look, except for the waste of space to the right of the forum itself.

Hi guys

All of this is being read through by Admin and will be worked on over the next few days I'm sure...

There is meant to be a bigger upgrade of the UBB software coming out early in 2010 which will apparently make it a lot more asthetically pleasing (thank goodness smile )

I've got a question myself; I was in the process of changing my public username, and I just needed now to shorten it to "Max Record". However, I can't find the option in either "Edit Profile" or "Edit Preferences" to do so? Am I not looking hard enough? (I hope not). wink

I like it. I think it's good there's some space on the right otherwise I think it would be overwhelming to have it cover the entire page, and I also find the font size comfortable to read.
