Insane bolt that first one Jacci, sure was a show! I didn't get any of that cell you got as was on the road. The first 4 of my images are with the dodgy ol kit 75-300mm it was that far away. Last two with the 17-40mm.

Big storms inland last night, snapped a few positives from my balcony, nothing great but was awesome to watch in real life.

Then headed to East Point to watch some of the cells coming down from the NE which were not particularly lightning active, but the area does have some interesting foreground to use, so I will be back there again for more photos.

Nice stuff Darwin guys!!!! Good work

Over the last few days i've driven 1700kms in total. The reward was plenty of storms that I wouldent have seen. Unfortunately I still cant buy that lightshow mad

Some nice light 10kms north of Cooma

Nice light and rainbow 10kms north of Cooma. At this very second the northern outskirts of Cooma was getting smashed by torrential rain and hail up to 2-3cms. This is the resulted flash flooding (see below) Note the floods on the top left hand side of the image, this area was bone dry the next day!

And some hail drifts.

Nice rain foot/microburst east of Canberra. This storm dished out numerous cgs which pulsed up to 8times atleast.

Photogenic pulse shower near Goulburn.

Lovely light ping, you can't repeat that type of splendor. Nice use of lead in lines with the great warm hues of the road. it takes you into the composition and your desired subject, well done.

It's a tricky one Lennie, longer focal lengths generally mean less light, so you a tip would be to open her up a little and you'll get more cloud detail. hard to find the balance though and i've struggled with it myself as no two storms are the same. I'd say the last two are right on the money though, lovely ambient light in which has allowed some detail in the foreground without blowing out the cg's, nice work matey.

Yer mate it is tricky! I opened it up as much as possible, f 4/0 and ISO200, I wouldn't dare go anymore than that given the heavy sodium lights in my street. The lack of intra cloud lightning probably didn't help my cause for providing an illumination within! Storms were around 110km away.

The last two yer, happy with that! The moon popped out for a bit to help with my foreground, def hope to visit that place again soon.

Awesome shots Pingtang! I have to echo Greg's comments are the lighting and lead in lines. Just make for simple, beautiful landscapes.

Have you tried cutting about 1/5th off the bottom of the first photo to get more of a pano? Jane's quote twigged me to it - the wider pano I think looks just a little better.

RWM, a gorgeous sunset. I love it when the sky changes colour like that, giving almost a metallic feel. smile

Photos from last night's anvil-crawlers.

...And a CG (photo curves heavily modified to bring out the strike) which blew out of the blue under the barrage of the safe CC crawlers in the anvil... and landed behind us about 700m. The strike seen just branching out of frame on the right branched and a second before the discharge we could feel being positively charged as a WOOSH over your hair. oored it as soon I could feel that static and many swear words were to be had by all! The strike was heard by everyone in Darwin without a doubt and cut power to a few suburbs.

Stunning shots Willougby, those crawlers are massive!
