Quote on weatherzone's home page.

Around the capital cities: It was a mostly sunny day in Sydney, Canberra, Hobart, Adelaide and Perth, while it was a mostly cloudy day in Brisbane and Melbourne.

Ummmmm unless I moved somewhere else it wasn't mostly cloudy here! Or was it that the western suburbs had sun but everywhere else was mostly cloudy? Or thatwhen there is one cloud in the sky it means mostly cloudy? Or is the person who wrote this from Sydney and does not want to admit that we had sun here in Melbourne. (Also I thought it was a cloudy day in Sydney today....am I wrong in thinking that?)

WRONG! Weatherzone, WRONG! :p

I can't believe that, that is just ridiculous. I know it's Christmas but surely they have someone who can look out the window in each city and tell them what's going on.

One of the sunniest days we've had in a while and it's mostly cloudy. laugh

'The day was largely sunny.' - from BOM notes on the weather for VIC.

Also, Sydney had 7/8 cloud this morning and it burnt off to 3/8 by 3pm. That sounds relatively cloudy to me.

Going to be a boring week here weather wise despite cooler weather and scattered showers in the south. Glad to be heading north for a few weeks while things reboot down here!

A splendid Christmas!

SEASONS GREETINGS ALL

From what I can tell things look pretty troughy in the synoptic charts for the next few days, yet there seems to be little discussion regarding it. Is there nothing in it?
Today like yesterday looks to be a mostly warm and SUNNY day........I think? Or is that mainly cloudy? :p

cool

Christmas day was a lovely day, I saw a little cloud would not have constituted 1/8.

Another spring like day, top temperature changed from 32 to 27.

Bit of a mixed bag today. Day started of sunny and warm with high cloud. As the day progressed the clouds thickened and the air began to feel quite humid. Then a cool breeze began to fall that dropped the temp. Was it a sea breeze? A trough? I am sure the experts out there can help!

For most of the day it was cloudy and it tried really hard to storm (is that actually a verb? lol) Some showers were observed, I could see a few that were falling to the south of the melton area this afternoon from here, but nothing actually fell here. As this evening has prgressed, the sun has been shining, the wind has died down and it has begun a very pleasant evening.

Caroline Springs: Min: 11.9 max:29.5 (before the change)

Melbourne: Min: 13.9 max: 28.9

Combined Tony a seabreeze pushed through with the help of a weak trough to the east.
Best Xmas eve to Boxing day weather I have seen in my life in Melb as far as I can go back to remember anyway smile

Yeah saw your stats Tony & good work but did it cover the 3 days? I think we would be hard pressed in the past 20-25 years getting weather like this for the past 3 days with temps ranging from 23c to 29c the 3 days, quite alot of sunshine, not much wind, No rain (yes there was a few showers about this afternoon but not so much in the Mlebourne area not here anyway) storms, hail, Snow down to unsually low levels for this time of year, Not hot nor Cold... To me anything over 30c is starting to get hot and anything below 20c is starting to get on the colder side. I'm 31 by the way wink and can't recall this in my lifetime weather this good since I can remember the weather as a 5 year old for these 3 days smile

Ok I only put in the two day of Eve and Xmas day, so I won't dispute you yet. I am 33, so I have experienced pretty much the same Xmas's as you!!!

Yes I would say it was almost perfect these 3 days.....I say almost because remeber I would rather it be HOT!!! lol

In 1999 it was almost perfect temps
24th: 14.7-29.0 25th: 16.8-30.5 26th: 18.4-24.1

Yes I know you do :p the heat is coming Tony but I think you might have to wait until the Middle and 2nd part of January mate but once it comes we may get a week or 2 out of it smile but I'm going to make a big call and have thought this for few weeks now few others agree with me that we won't see a 40c+ temp in Melbourne this Summer it just doesn't have a feel about it that we will.

Yes but in 1999 we had alot of storms and rain Xmas day and Boxing day so you can cross that one off the list lol

I agree with you, I don't think we will get one either. I always have this memory (or maybe it's a glitch!) that says if the summer is going to be humid rather than dry, the most we can expect is maybe a 37 or 38.

Mind you I wouldnt be surprised to see a dry and hot spell in March or April this year, the late start to summer, late end to summer theory!

Ok just looking at rainfall totals, Melbourne officially had 5.4mm on 26th and 31.2mm on 27th and 29.4mm on the 28th but I could be convinced that the rainfall totals were in actual fact for 25th-27th!

That was around the time we got something like 50mm in 20 minutes here. I'm probably exaggerating but I remember some of the heaviest rain rates I've ever seen around that time in 1999.
