I'd rather be a sardine getting zipped up in a can, at least you get to sit on a supermarket shelf for a bit

Maybe in your next life Azza!

Coastal Storm I would definately check out "Pildappa Rock" on Eyre Peninsula. It rivals WA's "Wave Rock" but its much easier to get to being just off the highway near Minnipa. I was surprised to find it years ago when touring the area with my wife. shocked

Must be a huge temp gradient to the beach? as southerly seabreezes forecast from mid-morning..

"S/SW 8/13 knots sea breeze from late morning increasing to 13/18 knots during the afternoon"

Just cannot see anything above mid 30's close to the coast!!..

though the City will be stinking ,yesterday was a shocker when I left work.. why do they have black roads?..

Take care in the heat

Yes it seems an early kick start to the sea breeze, this may keep the temp from crashing through 40. But if the northerly picks up, say goodbye to 40 on the wrong side! As for the air con, well let's just say, it's been on continuously for hours now, since yesterday about 10 am,,,, and it could just keep on for the next two days.

I would have to agree about the seabreeze. Getting a nice one down here at Pt Noarlunga.

Lucky people living so close to the beach... and where I envy my son at Semaphore. Already 43C here and it's not even midday. frown

Hmmm, the 28 day rainfall forecast has six days in a row from the 18th to the 23rd coming up in just over a weeks time, all with a high rainfall expectancy!I don't know whether to get excited or not (most probably not), but if anybody still has a bail or two left from last years pasture, I'll clutch some of it with pure enthusiasm.

Helen, I'll swap my proximity to the beach for your chunk of that spectacular Mid North any day (mmm, as long as the three air cons where part of the deal too)grin

No relief here either. Almost as hot as the surrounding deserts. I hate south australian summers.

I don't know if people are still interested in this level of geekdom. Just finished processing my WX data for 2009.
It was my hottest year I have recorded (av max) by a tiny 0.01 degrees. It had my hottest ever recorded day of 40.8. Plus 40 degrees usually only comes along once every 5-6 years. This is significant then. It also recorded the number of days with a max above 30 more than any previous year I have recorded. Temp wise 2009 was right royal faeces.
Rainwise it was normal and not significant. Although perhaps this could be construed as significant?

Lots more in the data, but this is enough for here. Will be up my website when time permits.

Hellen if it makes you feel better, it still got to 40 hear, so don't think the sea breeze is some sought of cold, crisp refreshing wind that brings people out of there house,,, unless your on the actual coast itself. I'ts just plain yuk outside hear too!

Adelaide airport 2:15pm 33.0 but Kent Town 40.3
Looks like the sea breeze got a flat tyre somewhere between the two stations.

Just nudged 44 here. For some reason I'm really feeling it this time. People are coming for a BBQ but I think we might all have to take shelter indoors. frown

Lord Gladstone I really like your wave rock photos, particularly the first one, with its foreground which is a cool and lovely scene in itself cool and then I progressively look outwards to the distant typical hot summer plain in the distance.
The snow machine? - so powerful it turns 40+ degrees into a veritable blizzard, you can't see twenty feet in front of you, you gotta rug up man!
PS I know there's permafrost but we have a very spectacular vertical temperature gradient here in SA in summer.

Helen you have my sympathies - my suggestion is to go sit near the bird bath and see if there's a sea breeze there. If there isn't then jump right in and do a few laps - that's sure to refresh you smile

I'm very interested in temperature stats Hillsrain - it's just my eyes that's the problem. Will be very interested to see if a long term trend upwards or downwards emerges at Hillsrainville, if you don't migrate south before it shows up.

By the way thanks for posting those 5 days over ... stats Max Record - that march one of last year or was it the year before is awesome. Wonder if we will eventually get a similar record smashing run of storm days.

Edit a barbeque in 44 degrees - you poor bastards! evillaugh

Took the tinnie out in absolutely flat calm conditions at O'sullivans Beach this morning, temps at around 11am were warm but not unbearable down there. Got home (about 5kms inland) and really felt the force of the heat - 40c at home compared to about 30c at sea, I know where I would rather have been.

At work in the nice cool air-con now so not really fussed how hot it gets, it does look as though we will struggle to reach 41c at Kent Town though with the seabreeze pushing in.

Once again the bureau has updated its forecasted temps for Kalangadoo,Penola and Coonawarra areas to 41 degrees for both tomorrow and Monday to clarify both where i live and Penola are close to Coonawarra

Monday will be the nervous day for everyone including volunteer firies like myself with that weak cool change coming through late afternoon

Big ouch! The BoM have just put out the precis forecast, and have included windy in Monday's forecast, with a maximum still of 43 degrees. I fear we might be going to see our first catastrophic fire danger rating for the hills!

I think were all worried about Monday's weather Matt especially with the notherlies ahead of that weak cool change if anything i wouldnt be surprised if the whole of SA was put under code red (catastrophic)fire danger on Monday
