A very Happy Birthday to you Roves. Hope this year's filled with big rain events and storms to drool over. smile

Welcome aboard, Jack. Astroman and I were over your neck of the woods last Sunday watching that awesome cell that pounded Morgan and surrounds. Hope to see some reports and photos from you. smile Just remember to read the Forum Guidelines and the Guidelines for Posting Images and all will be sweet. grin

Just had a bit of a play with a "toy" I was given... a Whirling Psychrometer. Figures match pretty well with the wx station, so I'm quite stoked. smile

Bit of sporadic cumulus buildup here. Currently a horrid 41C with 22% humidity and a dew point of 15C.

He he I think Roves will be drooling over beers today - happy birthday Roves cheers
Welcome Jack smile - many's the time I wished I was at Morgan rather than not, but wasnt, eg the late afternoon and evening of New Years Eve as you mentioned.
What's with this Whirling Psychrometer Helen - what's it good for? Is it one of those toys that children whirr around and it increases the volume of asprin sales to parents? nerd

Nice mummatus overhead right now. I've wondered for a while what it looks like sped up (I've guessed something like boiling water), so I'm taking time lapse.

Couple of cells have gone up between Burra & Morgan along a line of very quickly developing convective activity.

Jack Frost - Welcome to the forums (to posting at least!)... must be looking pretty good up your way atm....

Roves - Happy Birthday mate.... hope you are enjoying it!

Seriously, how are they employed as forecasters????

This the new forecast for the riverland issued 1 hour & 10 mins ago ...

"MURRAY DISTRICT
Saturday (until midnight) : Fire Weather Warning. Dry with some high cloud. Hot
with fresh northwest winds turning moderate west to southwest during the
evening.

Cuurently as Teckert said there are 2 main cells but many smaller scattered cells rapidly developing which will hit the riverland in the next couple of hours, unreal BOM they are a joke!!

Being convective cells (likely to cark it by sunset) & I'd say quite pulsey too, there is a good chance much of the Riverland wont see any of it. Waikerie might get lucky.

After being stuck inside at work all day, I was pleasently surprised to head outside to be greeted by a very dark and turbulent looking sky. In the short tram ride to the bay, I think the humidity would have raised up to at least 70-80% down there. It was seriously putrid, the air was thick as anything and the smell of salt water was extremely overpowering. Here's hoping for maybe a rogue storm or two tonight and tomorrow morning. I'm heading up to a mate's place at Summertown tonight, so I think I might bring the camera in the very unlikely case that something does happen. If something did happen and I didn't have my camera on me, I'd shoot myself poke

Got to 36.7 and is currently 31. Looking a bit dark outside at the moment, but doubt if anything will happen.

Pleasant outside now that the W SW has kicked in. Wind speed around 8 knots atm. Highest home today 30 knots.
Nice display of Mammatus mid afternoon, other wise nothing else to report!
