Yer the Far N border is going to drown over the next week, will certainly add troubles to the already flooded areas, moreso the NE when it passes through. EC backs off a bit with the deepening trough and associated low, GFS semi keen but weakens it. I'm pretty sure the ridge will cradle it before deflecting it into NSW but remnant moisture will be brought back down into the trough after that.

TS cool

Looking a tad interesting for the next few days, but not getting excited just yeat at all. Been burnt way too many times this summer to get excited about this.

Interesting to note that on the satelite pic, cloud seems to be swirling in from NT across the top of SA an into queensland, but to look at the radar / showers,, there moving in the opposite direction. Funny how that works smile

If this system does do a direct southerly bomb on us, then we could be in for bucket loads. BUT THATS A BIG IF.

I've been enjoying the milder weather and all thoughts of 40+ temps remain in a very deep dark place with a sign on it 'NOT TO BE DISTURBED'

I have an itch for a really good March squally storm. smile

Saturday Fine. Increasing winds.

Sunday Fine. Windy.

"One can still dream, wish or clutch at straws" - well here's my bit of strawclutching - check out the BOM 2 day and 3 day computer models - quite interesting.
You see - the approaching high that is forecast to keep the rain far to the north is fairly intense, and that might give us hope of some showers as it ridges in and lifts any middle level moisture that may come down in front of it ??
Beautiful photo there Dcon smile

yes a beauty moon shot there Dcon, nice and crystal clear smile

I'm not really sure what the storm chances are like over the weekend, main reason is because BSCH isn't loading, but my feeling is storms will be concentrated in the Riverland, Helen's area, and north of that line. Further north you go, the better chances of some flooding there with the flood watch still out for the far north smile

AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT - BUREAU OF METEOROLOGY
SOUTH AUSTRALIA REGIONAL OFFICE

FLOOD ADVICE FOR WARBURTON, COOPER AND STRZELECKI CREEKS
Issued at 11:55 am on Friday, 26 February 2010

1. FLOOD ADVICE :
Background:

Significant rain has been recorded for February across the North East Pastoral
district of South Australia with some falls exceeding 200 mm. To date Moomba
has recorded 219 mm for February.

High rainfalls in preceding months across the Northern Territory and Queensland
have resulted in flows in the Cooper and Diamantina river systems, with heights
reaching minor to major flood levels in parts.

Local rain has resulted in the appearance of much surface water across the
region including in the Coongie Lakes on the Cooper, north of Moomba. Flow has
also been observed in sections of minor and major creeks.

February rains across south west Queensland has resulted in flood-waters in
Cooper Creek passing into South Australia. Local sources indicate the river
height at Innamincka peaked above 8 metres resulting in some flow down
Strzelecki Creek. On Friday the level had dropped to 6.9 metres. Flood-waters
in the Queensland reaches of the Diamantina river system have not yet reached
the South Australian border.

Forecast:

A monsoonal system is projected to move across the northern boundary of the
state from Saturday onwards resulting in further falls of up to 40-80 mm with
isolated falls of 80-120 mm over the Pastoral districts north of Oodnadatta.
Higher falls are expected across the Northern Territory and Queensland reaches
of the Cooper and Diamantina-Warburton river systems. Given the wetness of the
catchments both upstream and downstream it is expected that these falls will
result in rises in river heights, particularly in Cooper and Strzelecki creeks.

One lone little strike on the Coorong. Nothing of real significance on satellite there so it could just be EM noise?

Once again i am confined to my laptop and most likely will be getting the info on my desktop retrieved before the computer can be scrapped for parts but on the upside i am still able to remain in touch with the weather events on here grin

Weather wise it was fairly warm today in Kalangadoo im guessing the temp would have been around 32-33 degrees which is alright 3 days before summer ends although i wouldnt mind seeing a few thunderies come Autumn
